Julian Edelman: "I'm going to go full throttle regardless. If it goes, it goes."

Ultimately Edleman is what he is...and that's pretty awesome and glad to see the success he has "earned" and fought for.

Having said that, it's nice to see he's realistic and playing within himself and able to live with any consequences of playing this game. He knows he can't play anything less than full tilt and let's just hope his recovery is complete with no setbacks. TFB can certainly use his skillset and his ability helps everyone on the offense (i.e. they're a better team with him in there even if he gets limited receptions/targets due to coverage).

Bones are "healed", generally, within 4-8 weeks. However, they don't achieve full strength for months. And, in this case, you're talking about a small bone in a high impact area. They'll have that shoe snug as a bug in a rug, and they'll have the plate in place to assist in the stress/weight management, but nothing is a 100% guarantee at this point.

So, to sum up, this post season hangs on a (hopefully) rebuilt/reassembled/reimagined offense line, a small bone, a plate, and a shoe. Should be interesting....

I'll take 2 of these on Saturday ....

I'll take two of those on February 7th :)

He's not playing unless cleared medically. I think he is just trying relay he's going all out and whatever happens, happens.
As Deus pointed out, there are degrees of healed under which one can be "cleared medically."

I think the only thing we can assume/hope is that if he re-injures himself, it will not be career limiting, with the entire offseason in which to recover. He would be foolish to play if he were risking a career limiting or career ending injury. He's only 29.

Will he play special teams?

I reckon that can be used as a barometer as to how fit he is

Maybe not though. I doubt they will trust anyone but Edelman and Amendola to return punts in the playoffs, and Danny is dealing with his own injuries too. So Edelman on some ST might just be a matter of not overloading either of those guys.

I really hope he's not on ST's except for say a fair catch and that goes for both him and Amendola.

No punt returns and minimize routes where he has to hard cut on that foot.

...which means as WR on this team he has 1-2 more years of top-level production.

I don't like hearing him say "if it goes, it goes," which suggests to me it's not fully healed.

I was thinking along the same lines. They were playing some sound bites of him on the radio. They asked what % he would give to his healed foot and his response was "I can't really put a percentage on it. There's not way of really knowing until Saturday." Hopefully I didn't butcher the response too much but if that is not an exact quote it's a good paraphrase.

I would have prefered a response of "I don't know if I can put a percentage on it but let's just say I'm feeling good."

The repsonses all seem cautious and uncertain. This better not be Gronk in 2012. Remember when we were highly anticipating his return only to see him go out with injury on the first drive?

I'd probably put that closer to three. Randy Moss had over 1,000 yards at 32. Less than half his contract is guaranteed and there are incentives.

Have him do whatever Steve Smith has been doing in the off season. Guy must have an excellent routine and diet.

Yeah. He had three 1,000 yard seasons since he turned 32.
all the more reason not to risk a career limiting or ending injury.

I hope so.

Randy might be a little bit different example as he was more of a straight line speed guy and with so much of JE11's game predicated on quickness that sometimes is the first to go when you get older (I can attest to that :D).

Speaking of going....

Ebner putting on shoulder pads before practice. Still has the cast on his right wrist/hand.
