We'll feel much better to discuss this topic AFTER the victory over KC on next Saturday.

He was unconscious. Looks at the replay and I think it's clear. I find it strange that anyone would think he was faking.
Adam Jones: Antonio Brown flopped on pivotal play that cost Bengals big - CBSSports.com

well.....it appeared so, but color me a skeptic.....I'm no Burfict fan, but watch the replay......Browns arms move unnaturally after he is hit ... the movements appear embellished....playing dead is easy

Burfict deserved the flag, but I would not put it past Brown to serve up some acting......perfect moment if you're screwed unless you can get 15 yards and stop the clock

To me it looked like he was knocked unconscious on impact and his body went limp, which is the reason it looks unnatural. His limbs and neck are no longer under control of his brain, which has switched off.

or so it appears to you

I know its what I would do in that moment.........pick up the foul and make it look good

I think it will be closer than everyone thinks, though both teams will be featuring a QB with a dead throwing arm. The issue is that the Broncos defense is much better, and the Steelers are likely to be missing their most special player. I give the Steelers a puncher's chance; the Broncos lost to a Colts team featuring Matt Hasselbeck, recall.

I have no problem "looking ahead" as a fan, whose actions have zero impact on the outcome, -- as long as BB and the patriots keep focus short-term, makes absolutely no difference if we look past KC.

That said, this is a tricky match-up for both teams. I voted Pitt but its a tough one to forecast - which Pitt team shows up? How will Manning look?

Just a side comment -- I know it sucked to lose Emmanuel Sanders and he is a fantastic talent, but Pitt knew what they were doing when they decided they had their horse in Antonio Brown.. One of my favorite players to watch week-to-week.

You lost me with the comment about Big Ben being a "warrior," though. I was actually trying to figure out how many times I've watched him get carted off only to see him return in the same game. It's seriously been multiple times. One time in CLE he got taken away in an ambulance only to play again the next game. The dude's the biggest drama queen in the entire NFL, possibly in NFL history. He's 6'5" and clearly pushing 260-270 lbs, and still can't take anything of a hit to any part of his body.

Heh.

For what it's worth: if we were playing Family Feud and the Category was "PatsFans.com Poster who treats virtually everyone so graciously that on the rare occasion that he does share a few harsh words, you pretty much take it for granted that they're 100% True" I believe that when Richard Dawson turned around and bellowed "Survey Says...!!" we'd hear the chimes and see something like an 84 next to your name!!

What I mean to say is: If I didn't already consider RatBurger a Prima Donna Brett Favre II, I'd be well on my way to being convinced of it, just 'cause you say so!! Credibility: It's a beautiful thing.

He reminds me of a WWF character. He's all show, and some people actually fall for it. The funny thing is that it's popular to believe that Ben is some kind of tough guy while Brady is some kind of wimp, while their injury histories and games missed show that it couldn't possibly be any further from the truth. People believe what they want to believe, though.

Yep.

01 ~ Brady gets bones broken, but shuts his Pie Hole and plays through the Pain...for the Team.

02 ~ RatBurger gets an hangnail and takes out a Front Page Ad:

"Lookit me!! I'm playing through Pain!!"

I do always find it funny when posters imagine their speculation has any effect on the team at all. I suspect it's just a heavy dose of superstition, but it is notable that particular fans take the rhetoric that the team uses and applies it to themselves, some schlub on a couch who has absolutely zero impact on the outcome. I suppose acknowledging that we don't have any impact on the outcome is a hard truth for some.

I hear it on talk radio all the time and its always been a head scratcher.. Heck, I'll start talking about super bowl match-up preferences if anyone is up for it.

Steelers defense should sit on everything short. Make the goober throw a pass beyond 15 yards.

I actually think it's the opposite. Make Manning throw short to medium precision passes that are likely to get tipped or just plain intercepted. The way I look at it is this: the further downfield the receivers get, the more space opens up and the more room for error from Manning. He is not going to beat anyone with a gameplan that requires many accurate, short throws, but he could win by hitting just a few of big chunk plays. If you look at his struggles this season, most of his picks weren't on long passes but on routine ones with a smaller target where you need zip and accuracy to beat tight coverage. Deep passes mean jump balls; jump balls are good for Sanders and Thomas.

I think the Steelers will win this game. And I have no idea why people think the Steelers are going to suffer without long bombs...they have some of the quickest receivers in the game and will adjust their gameplan, something that Moron Mike Tomlin would not have thought of unless he is forced to (as he is now). The best way to attack the Broncos is with yards after catch, not through a big looping sideline aerial attack.

I'm torn. On one hand I want the Steelers to beat the Broncos. On the other, if Brown did fake it then he needs to pay the consequences and go through the concussion protocol. There's no way he's ready to go on Sunday if that hit was as impactful as he made it look. NFL players might have the best trainers in the world but the human brain is the human brain and we all know the NFL knows jack **** about taking care of that any better than the rest of us.

Just a friendly reminder that this is the fourth season that Manning has had a top 5 defense; in the other three his teams lost in the Divisional round.

2005 - Manning played decent, one of his not-awful postseason performances--but the offense only scored 3 points through the third (down 21-3) and fell short, 21-18 to the Steelers.
2007 - This one isn't entirely Manning's fault, losing 28-24 to the Chargers, as he threw for 400+ yards and three TD's. But he did throw 2 picks in the game, and again another one-and-done.
2012 - New team, same result; again the defense didn't hold up, but Manning threw two picks, one a pick-6, the other in double OT at mid-field and fifteen yards later the Ravens kicked the winning field goal.

I don't care how good the Broncos D is, or how banged up Pittsburg is. I'm not taking Manning, in the cold, in the playoffs, against anyone.

If Big Ben is hurt then he might be throwing ducks just like Manning. This might go down in the annals of history as "The Duck Bowl."

Better get those Duck Dynasty guys on the line, Manning may be wanting to steal that title for his new trade mark.
