PSI this weekend

1. This chart is Bull Shyt and it shows how ignorant asses are still using the IGL incorrectly. The Ball pressure will NOT be at 11 psi at -13 degrees it WILL be BELOW 9 psi.

(These idiots continue to use pressure gauge readings rather than absolute readings)

2. The Wind chill factor is for living creatures and not a football. Yes the Wind will remove the heat from a football quicker but will not make the football colder. The purpose of wind chill is to let people know the effects of wind on their body temps during a cold day.

EDIT: I did not see @Dr Pain 's post.

If the football gets wet, the wind will make it colder. Although, when we're talking about single digit temps, that probably doesn't come into play. At 5oF, wind definitely makes a difference if it's wet.

Every time I see a 2016 mock draft with only 31 picks my blood boils
Well there's a reason some of us are passing on paying any attention to this draft and not watching it. I haven't looked at a single mock draft - and won't.

On the upside, I have saved money. $40 for ESPN Insider saved. $100-200 in Patriots Hoodies and T Shirts saved. $100 or so in draft previews saved.

I know it won't and possible can't happen but would be hilarious if Bob Kraft asked for a a court to order an temporary injunction stopping the draft on that Thursday of the 1st round asking for his 1st round pick back at like 3pm of draft day. There by screwing up all 31 other teams, NFL network and ESPN draft coverage for the night
That would be amazing but we all know Kraft (and his son) is "1 of 32" first and "One of Us" second.

ESPN, NFL Listed As Sources For Graphic On Weather Effects On Football - Including PSI

Unbelievable. People know that psi drops in cold weather now and yet, we still lost our draft picks. Kraft needs to hold the league accountable and bring a lawsuit on them so the media and public can refocus on the sham and injustice done to the Pats. He will lose the lawsuit but hopefully public perception helps to regain our picks.
They have the math in this wrong too the psi would drop to around 10 from 13.5 and 9 from 12.5 psi starting This is part of their manipulation .

. See Martin Schmaltz' pressure calculator for an online calculator which is accurate. 13.5PSI at 68 equates to 9.87PSI at 0.

If the balls starts at 12.5 they would be 8.99

Apart from picking up Madden 16, I haven't spent a dime on the NYJFL* this year either. And it's a good feeling.

Michael Irvin was discussing how to catch a football on cold days on NFLN. His premise was the ball is hard and also heavy. It's a heavy ball.

I wonder why that is.

So there will be no fumbles, right? :)

A very cold football does feel hard to the touch, despite the low PSI, because the leather gets very stiff/inelastic at low temperatures.

Side note: Seahawk fans are still posting nonsense about stripping the Patriots of the title...

Martin Schmaltz' pressure calculator

:) Vikings will try and cheat this week by dropping PSI to as low as 8.82 PSI

What will we tell the Children?

So based on this calculator is the PSI of the footballs at this game right now 8.69 PSI?

68 degrees starting
12.5 start PSI
-6 outside....
8.69 PSI according to this calculator.

Is the league concerned about the quality of the game or their own PR?

I think I know the answer.

Maybe it's days like this is why Aaron Rodgers likes to use over inflated footballs...

Ohhhhh this explains all the conversations about the "weight" of the footballs during "deflategate."

No, @Tony2046 is right. The ball wont be colder, it will just get cold quicker if it's wet. You can't make the ball colder than it's surroundings. To make it colder than the surrounding air you would have to transfer heat from a ball that is colder than the air to the air. Heat can't flow from a colder to a hotter item, only from hot to cold.

Actually the ball being wet does further reduce pressure but it is a more complex calculation and the dew point has to also be factored in. Additionally the water can make the ball leather swell and increase the volume which would reduce pressure. Think of a pair of wet leather gloves and then how they are when they dry.

Yes, you are right about the volume increasing which will reduce pressure.
But my point was that the temperate of the ball will reach equilibrium with the air and how fast that happens.

If it (the gloves) doesn't fit, you must acquit
