How many games for Burfict?

That was a Jack Tatum on Daryl Stingley type play. It was ugly, and on one of the game's best players. Think Todd Bertuzzi hitting Steve Moore. He should be suspended for half a season at least.

Looks like Porter has a fine coming for being on the field as well.

That's the way I saw it too. Plus Burfict has a history of taking cheap shots on guys.

Yeah, we Pats fans should be very enthusiastic about the NFL disciplining players based on projection about what a player was thinking/intending. That works really well.

I think 1-2 games but he should be unemployed.

Why? He's fulfilling his job description very well: intimidate other players into poorer play using methods that include as much violence as you can get away with within the rules. If that means an occasional penalty for crossing the lines, that's fine, too.

Let's not be naive. This is what we support when we support the NFL.

We fans can sit back and use terms like "thugs" to make ourselves feel better though creating artificial distance, but that's all self delusion.

We saw 2 of the most undisciplined teams in the league last night. Both those teams have tremendous talent yet they both those teams have the propensity to self destruct. Just so happens the Bengals decided they were going to be the team in self destruct mode last night. Burfict should get a suspension and Marvin Lewis should lose his job. He has what 7 one and outs and his teams always seem to implode at the most inopportune time. Tough day to be a Bengals fan.

Oh nonsense. It was mostly a shoulder to shoulder hit. Notice that after they figured out that if they should the reverse angle where you could see what actually happened, they stopped showing it. Deion called it out on the postgame.

It shouldn't be any, but seeing as how it's the chickenshit NFL, they'll give him a game to cover their asses.
That was a late hit targeting his head. There is no contact with Brown's torso whatsoever.

You're misrepresenting what an NFL player's job description is in order to support your own viewpoint. What Burfit did is not acceptable. The fine and suspension will make that clear.

Oh, I'm sure he'll be fined, and perhaps suspended. That's all part of the League marketing and need to maintain some degree of order.

But he won't be asked to perform differently by his team. His job description will remain the same.

Burfict is violent and bad. Those of you gleefully talking about thugs and ghettos are racist as ****.

If I'm a Bengals fan (and seriously why would you be?) I'm looking at the non call on th hit on Bernard (easily could have been called spearing) that would have negated a fumble. That hit was worst than the hit by Burfedt. Granted Burfect should have not hit him, it was late and to the head and that is getting called everytime, but how about some consistancy? What is worst is that during that injury timeout, Joey Porter (now a Steelers defensive assistant coach) was on the field and got in the middle of a huddle of Bengal players which caused PacMan to react and get that BS extra 15 yards.

Why was Porter even on the field? He is not a trainer.

Once again, the NYJFL* got the outcome they desired.

Burfict doesn't do stuff like that because he's been asked to, he does it because he's a piece of crap. You know as well as I do that his contract say nothing about violence and intimidation. In any case, there's a not too fine line between intimidating with tough play and intentionally trying to injure someone.

Whoa easy there, it's not like he was generally aware of some air missing from a football. All he did was try to maim another human being.

$50 fine and an e-mail apology to Brown is what the punishment should be.
Everybody knows the air pressure in a football that the QB may or may not have ordered be manipulated by The Deflator is above everything on and off the field. The integrity of the game is far too important for our great commissioner, even when players are going WWE on their wives, record-holding QB's are taking HGH (and being protected by the media) and guys in the league (Burfict, Beckham Jr.) are spearing players with their helmets . . . which, by the way, is a 15 yard penalty while phantom pass interference calls (and real ones) are spot fouls. Yeah, because those are more egregious than spearing another player with your helmet.

Quite the daily double for Voncraze! You snatch defeat from the jaws of victory while disabling the two best players on the Steelers. Merry effing Christmas to the Broncos.

I didn't see that reverse angle but it did look like a hit to the head.

As a repeat offender, #Bengals Vontaze Burfict faces a possible suspension for his hit on Brown (via @RapSheet).

The pass was incomplete the hit was very late and totally unnecessary. Undisciplined play costing your team the game after you made a play that should have won the game.

The penalty on Jones is interesting I thought it should have been offsetting or no penalty at all. Porter was a PoS when he was a player and still is apparently. He didn't belong on thei field agitating, surprised the refs ignored his rule breaking. That said Jones again after making a big play earlier put the Steelers in chip shot range with his lack of composure.

There is a reason they are the Bungles. The head coach is ultimately responsible for the actions of his team on a week to week basis. I can't imagine a BB coached team being this out of control.

The one good thing is the tape it gives BB to show his team the results of being undisciplined.

He took one step after the ball passed through Brown's hands before making the hit so I wouldn't call it late. It was definitely a head shot.

That's probably the first game this year that was decided by penalties, yet wasn't the refs fault, but entirely the players fault.

That was a disgrace. Burfict and Pacman Jones are disgraces to the sport. Once thugs, always thugs.
I don't totally agree. Jones flag should not have been thrown at all in the end of a playoff game. It was a ****ing gift win to the Steelers. The Burfict hit was flagrant and it just sucks that a playoff game gets decided like that. Ben was not going to win that game for them. Now the Broncos have a layup.

Even worse I think NFL refs revel in moments like that, when their actions decide the outcome. They should be as invisible as possible. Refs suck
