Going to New York now the site can add 'Guess that A'sshole' to 'Guess that Ass'.

I like barstool, alot of the stoolies are kinda dbags though. Someone told me he hopes my family dies in a gruesome way and I'm forced to watch. Like chill out bro lol.

The site is not bad if one avoids the comments section ... real brutal stuff they really should censure it a bit.

You guys are being tough. Portnoy's been grinding hard for well over a decade and built that up from the bottom.

Not sure you realize how hard it is to make that kind of money on the internet.

Good for him for cashing in some while the popularity is still high. That kind of popularity generally has a shelf life. He is taking care of himself and his guys now while simultaneously attempting to blow it up even further.

He found a great niche with one of America's core demographic men college aged and up and there is no reason this couldn't continue to grow.

Sure there is chance a move like this back fires but as long as they stay true they will be fine. They know how to play the game.

And yes I am good friends Sales guy. I didn't ask any specifics as its none of my business.

You're not the only Stoolie here.

I hope they keep Smitty. I used to like Trent. Nate scares me.
nate is unbearable. did you see the video with smitty babysitting nate at the skins eagles tailagte? nate just seemed like the whiny annoying nerd that no one wanted there. smitty is too good for him.

I'm hoping they keep Feits more than anything. I know he isn't the most popular and his blogs can kind of suck, but I think a lot of his content is hilarious. he is too funny on kfc radio, rundown, things like that. Dave seemed to be avoiding questions about him in his Q&A.

Will also be interesting to see how big cat and kfc react to actually getting money lol

From what Portnoy said on his periscope Q&A seems like all the regular bloggers are making the move to NY, except for one which is Trent but apparently he will still be working for Barstool. The Boston sports team guys Carrabis (Sox) and Rear Admiral (Bruins) are staying on and I believe will have bigger roles.
the more i look, the more it seems like they're excluding feits. i would be shocked, but there's no mention of him anywhere. and look at this image How To Join The Barstool Writing Dream Team

seems he should be there...

Perhaps. But selling T-shirts, etc. with other people's intellectual property on them certainly makes it easier!

Good luck to him .... he's earned it ... for some of us Boston sports homers ...
it's the NYC rivalry thing IMO ... never want to see anything head south to NYC turf.

Dude sold a blog for somewhere between five and eight million dollars. Fair fuggin play to ya, Portnoy.

...but, and this is a big but, the whole "still in charge of content" is just silly. He sold 51% and accordingly has no leverage. Barstool is now going to have to devise an actual revenue strategy beyond t-shirts and in a world of ad-blockers that's not easy. Sponsored content is coming. Branded docs? You betcha. Local Smokeshow of the Week Presented by Cell-Tech? F'sho. Monetizing a large user group is not easy as I'm certain Ian can attest to. I'm glad a dude made out like a bandit off of user generated content and six sentence blurbs but don't expect the model to remain the same now that they actually have to generate real revenues.

You know there is legal recourse for that if someone ever felt their intellectual property was stolen and used to make money.

D0n't give me the whole complaining about it to random people on the internet.

@Joker, I expected that answer from Johnny Manziel not Colin Kaepernick.

well, good for Portnoy....ME? I'm holding out for bigger fish....like THIS guy------------->

This guy clearly doesn't know what it is like to make 3/4 of a billion dollars. When you have that much money, it is sugar babies and party favors.

What's your problem with BS?
I liked his stuff much more when he was in Boston and concentrated more on the local sports scene.

Good for him, but I have no idea how an unfunny clown like Portnoy managed to build up such a following in the first place.

Chernin Group wants distribution rights - thus the reason for the operating control. I do believe that El Prez will have editorial rights.....until a major outlet drops promoting and distributing its material or ad revenue falls off.

And if you folks were in the same situation you wouldn't take the money...right...
Not everyone is seduced by wealth and power. Sadly, the vast majority of the people produced by our culture are.
