He isn't even that. Brady, Montana, Starr, Marino, Elway, Graham are all ahead of Pey Pey. There's more for sure. Top 10 maybe.

Elway was before my time but from the numbers it looks like he was just the original Manning hype machine who got lucky and won 2 SBs at the end with Terrell Davis. His season by season stat lines are very unimpressive, even in context.

What 5 QBs would you take over Manning?

Brady
Montana
Marino
Young

who else? Bradshaw, Elway, Aikman and Favre I'd put behind him.

If we're counting old school then you have Unitas, Starr, Graham, Luckman, and Baugh as contenders also.

Its hard to rate Manning considering the rules are so different between eras. Would he have been as good when there was so much more wr disruption and his timing routes would be disrupted?

Are we talking about starting a franchise with a new young qb? Based on talent alone, i'd then put Rogers up in the mix, even if his career stats aren't as crazy as Manning or Brady's yet.

I mean if you are starting a franchise now, who would you prefer having: 22 year old Aaron Rogers or 22 year old Peyton Manning. Not so obvious is it? Now what about if they were not in a dome and the team was going to build mostly through the defense?

I put Manning in the race with a bunch of other QBs at between 9-15

The top 8 QBsOAT, in no particular order:

Starr
Brady
Baugh
Graham
Unitas
Montana
Young
Staubach

The line forms after that.

I thought Jerry Rice was the greatest player.

In no particular order except for Brady at #1

Brady
Montana
Marino
Young
Unitas
Starr
Baugh
Staubach
Elway

Brees
Roethlisberger

Somebody I can't remember but sure belongs above Peyton.

Peyton Manning (as long as he has his own personal medical personnel prepared to perform the heimlich in case of choking) (Insurance purposes )

If I had to do a team... (* means active)

QB: T.Brady*, J.Montana, J.Unitas
RB: J.Brown, O.Simpson, L.Tomlinson
OT: A.Munoz, W.Jones, J.Ogden
OG: J.Hannah, G.Upshaw, L.Allen
C: M.Webster, J.Otto
TE: R.Gronkowski*, T.Gonzalez, M.Ditka
WR: J.Rice, D.Hutson, R.Moss, C. Johnson*, M.Harrison

DE: R.White, D.Jones, B.Smith, J.Watt*
DT: M.Olsen, J.Greene, A.Page, T.Washington
LB: L.Taylor, R.Lewis, M.Singletary, D.Butkus, J.Seau, S.Huff
CB: D.Sanders, D.Revis*, D.Lane, R.Woodson
S: E.Reed, R.Lott, L.Wilson

K: A.Vinatieri*
P: R.Guy
RS: D.Hester*, G.Sayers
ST: S.Tasker, M.Slater*

Mike Haynes has to be one of the top 3 corners, better than Woodson. As another poster said, Mel Blount as well. I would rank corners as Sanders, Haynes, Blount, and Lane.

I would take Gayle Sayers over both of them. The best open field runner ever.

I'm too young to remember Gayle Sayers. At 49 I remember most games starting from the mid to late 70's.

I'd Take Water Payton and Emmett Smith over Lady T also

I wouldn't put Smith on that level, and I think Emmitt doesn't get enough credit. Tomlinson wins for me because he was such a phenomenal receiver and pass protector. Marshall Faulk may be the only other back in history who could match him in those aspects, but Marshall was never the pure runner that LDT was. Patriots fans are biased against the guy, but he definitely should be considered easily one of the greatest to ever play. Part of our bias stems from that!

How many time have I told you to leave your mother out of this?

Dude! Swap that wooden spoon with a pigskin and I'm sure it's a 70 yard bomb.

Marshall was never the pure runner that LDT was.

Brady could have played in the days of Montana and Unitas ...

not so sure Manning could have done the same.

I don't believe you can put Brady as the 2nd best player of all time in the NFL...

Best QB and most impactful player? Yes. Best? Judging by positional dominance of all time? Not yet.

If he gets ring 5 then maybe?

Why would he need ring 5? He's the only QB in history to start 6 SBs.

Tomlinson's best years were as the focal point of his offense, while Faulk - while certainly great - benefited from a superior passing game and a Hall of Fame quarterback in his prime. Tomlinson rushed the ball in much greater volume than Faulk over his career, and was basically an unstoppable force in short yardage.
