1. Best QB in the league. Our offense with Edelman/DA/Gronk is the best in the league and his weapons should be back.
2. D-Line can rush the passer - It's going to be cold and tougher to run long routes. This our best line since the early SBs
3. Healthy Collins and Hightower together is deadly
4. Quietly our secondary has had a great season
5. We will be more prepared than any other team.

I know we've had injuries and the league hates us, but this team will prevail.

The defensive line is a good point. They definitely are better than in prior seasons and they can rotate multiple good players to keep them all fresh. It all hinges on the line protecting better, opening holes better and the offense as a whole executing better. Really not worried about the defense. Which feels weird to say.

We repeat if the line can give Brady 3 strong seconds ... he usually needs just 2.5.

I think we are fine in all areas ... I think the run game will be good enough if the above is true.

worried about the offensive line.
we also suck balls on third down. hopefully, edelman and dola can help change that.

seriously, we rarely convert on 3rd down anymore. if it's 3rd and more than 7...we have 0 shot at converting unless be get a PI flag.

Someone brought up a great point in another thread - that the O-line played badly in this preseason, then, from one week to the next, was passable for the opener against Pitt.

One reason - the offense's health.

With a healthy Gronk, Edelman, Amendola and Vollmer, this is hands down the best team in the NFL. If one of these guys goes down, it will be tough, but we can probably pull it off. Two go down, game over.

After a day of frustration over where we are, its a good time to look at how it can be fixed.
We need to win 3 games, and at least the first 2 will be against very flawed teams.
That said, we simply cannot play like we have the last month and have any hope of advancing. We have major flaws. I think BB believes he has the worst OL ever so there must be some things happening on offense. If he continues the White Flag Offense we are done before we start.
The OL needs to be totally reevaluated.
We need to find out if Vollmer can play. If we can do we replace Cannon with Waddle or with Fleming?
How bad is Stork playing? Does he need to be benched? I think Kline needs to start, and we need to figure out who the other G is going to be.

We need to stop being afraid to run the offense. Let it rip. When we run the short crossing stuff, we always get the play up the seam. Screens will help.

There should be no hope to be the high scoring lights out offense at the beginning of the season. But we should absolutely not become a 'on schedule' 'get to 3rd and 3' offense. That has always been where we fail in the post season. This offense is best when it doesn't get to 3rd down. Throwing often on first and second down, situations like 2nd and 5, is where we normally get big plays. We need to play for chunks not nickel and dime. That doesn't mean throw it 30 yards down field it means spread the field and beat one on one.
We aren't going to win by running, so we should run only for balance.
Whether we use a TE as a 6th OL, devise a quick hit passing game plan, use a combination, or come up with something crazy like Mason as a RB in pass protection, we need to get Brady time, and put the ball in his hands and let him win it.

I am not as hopeful as others that Edelman will be back, or if he is will be very effective. But, Gronk, Amendola, Martin, Lafell and White are enough for Brady to pick apart any D, if we let him try.

We probably need to win a 17-13 game along the way. We probably need special teams to win us a game.

I hope that BB has been breaking down this team to show it how terrible it is right now, so that he can put a game plan in front of them and they feel there is a solution.

If (and who knows the answer) Amendola and, especially, Edelman return to form here is what it does.

(1) chains move
(2) opposing D needs to dedicate more ressources to the WRs
(3) the most intriguing possibility of all : who is now guarding Martin, LaFell, and White ? Imagine you need to stop NE at full strength. After accounting for Gronk and Edelman you have 8 defenders left as one of those gets doubled. Then Dola. LaFell is getting grief, but if he facing the 7th defender he may produce.

Best reason is the absurdity of repeating as SB champs with this much working against the team....the League office, the injuries. The irony, the poetic justice - the opportunity is too great!

And the image of seeing Roger "Jets" Goodell handing the Lombardi to Brady will last forever....

GO PATS!!

It's amazing how often in the playoffs it comes down to the better coaching and the better QBing. As far as the AFC goes, we have the lead in each of those categories by a longshot.

Great post. Our team hasn't really been desperate to win all season. That's what happens when you start 10-0. I look forward to seeing that look of desperation like we did last post season. Our team plays better when they badly need to.

I much prefer this team's mindset when they're facing adversity and feeling they have to overcome the odds. We still have the greatest big game player ever under center and two weeks to get healthy and prepare. I like our chances.

One major factor not yet mentioned: SJax added to the offense.

Question before signing him was whether he had anything left in the tank. Seeing him run over DBs has answered that. IIRC he caught a successful screen yesterday. If he adds that to the offense it will be a potent weapon for Brady.

I am not sure BB and McD have really started to open him up yet. They're savvy enough to keep some cards up their sleeve, and he could be a difference maker at some point in the next three games.

A photo of Goodell in the locker room and weight room and corridors should help the repeat.

.

Disagree

KC will beat Houston and then head to NE. KC has a very good defense, mobile QB and run game, underrated TE in Kelce and decent receiving corp. Their Kicker is liability.

team is mediocre to completely sucky for 2 months now. I hope they can turn it on a dime but I am doubting it. HFA was necessary for this team this year. If Denver loses in Divisional it won't matter.

But how do these compare to other teams "Five Reasons" lists?
