How to a) fight for the football or b) draw a pass interference call. Yesterday there were two more examples of what has been a season long trend. When Martin gets call for pushing off, drawing the offense PI all he needed to do is stop, jump and fight for the football. He might not get the PI call his way because the defender was playing the ball but the way the NFL is there is a strong chance the defender runs into him and the Pats get the call.

The worse play was the deep ball to LeFell. He kept running and WAITED FOR THE BALL TO DROP INTO HIS ARMS letting the defender make a play. If he stops and jumps back for the all the defender will plow into him and again, most likely draw the PI. Even with out the PI call at least he will aggressively be making a play instead of waiting for it the be made.

The Pats WR need to fight for the ball and not wait for it to fall into their hands.

that was the first thing i thought of when i saw the replay.

Martin did nothing wrong. He was robbed of a catch by homefield advantage and opponent lobbying. You are allowed to touch opposing players if you are making a play on the ball. That contact was completely immaterial.

As for LaFell, he and Brady are beyond useless as a deep duo. You're right, he has no idea how to use his body as a shield and force a defender to make a great play or commit PI trying. And God forbid Brady should drop a deep ball into the proverbial bucket once in a while.

LaFell is a complimentary receiver(probably a 3rd option) who is injured, and has been cast into a leading role.. give him some slack before you start criticizing him..

It is going to be a long two weeks..

I like LaFell. Don't like him as a deep threat. I've been a big backer of his since he signed here.

When he was our 3rd/4th option last year, he played well. My favorite catch being against the Ravens in the divisional round. Hopefully, he can be put back into that role for the playoffs and be a nice complimentary piece to the offense.

There is also a talent issue, compare the Pats WRs to other athletes across the league. Our hope is that Edelman returns and can step into his old form, in Bill we trust.

Go Pats!

That catch against the Ravens dropped perfectly into his hands. What the OP is say is that when the ball not throw perfectly that the reciever makes and attempt to go after it.

I can't really recall many Brady balls that travel more than 30 yards downfield with arch that are ever "on the money." That is a career thing, not a 39 year old thing. I'm not saying that there is any other quarterback I would prefer overall, but the deep ball is a weakness ( except when he had the world's greatest for receiver with him for years).

That's what this discussion is about. When it's not on the money it would be nice if the reciever attacks the ball. They seem to just watch the ball come to their hands. The only ones that fight for it are gronk, Amendola and Edelman, with two of them injured. Lafell is past the point of using injury as and excuse, he's our healthiest receiver but his catch radius is the smallest. They need to help tom out because watching the game he gets hit everytime he throws the ball so it hard to be perfect. Once they start fighting and catching maybe that will help the Ol most because the defense will put more people in coverage.

Shame we were robbed of draft real estate.
Tyrell Williams looked decent for the Chargers yersterday.
It be great if we could find a good tall receiver before our game.

This is the exact reason why I'm teaching my eight-year-old to go up and get it instead of waiting for it to drop ever so perfectly into his waiting arms.

textbook OPI......he had his arm fully extended on the back of the defender before the ball got there........learn the rules

Martin's push off was very ticky tac Dez Brayant push off worse and never gets called!

no it wasn't.......the replay failed to show the true extent......he had his arm locked straight on the back.....the he may have gotten away with it if the defender was facing him, but he certainly kept the defender from having a chance on the ball

who cares about dez bryant....he had nothing to do with that play

"Learn the rules"?
Learn to have a discussion without being an ass

it was a textbook OPI, no question about it.....your insistence to the contrary makes it appear you do not know the rules.......which is why I suggested you learn them

Clearly I didn't see things the way you did on the play. I saw hands placed on an opposing player in a way that didn't affect the play. It has nothing to do with understanding the rules, which I assure you I'm well aware of. It's possible to disagree on aspects of this sport, let's just do that respectfully.

it absolutely affected the play.......the defender with his back to martin had no chance to make a play because martin pushed off with completely extended arms......it is offensive pass interference and it could not be clearer
