Reiss: RB Steven Jackson relayed that when Bill Belichick first called...

Agreed, although he's still trying to learn his assignments, calls, and overall verbiage of the system, so 18-20 carries may be a bit much at this point in time.

I would definitely think that he should see 12-14 carries, however. Perhaps they can use him effectively with the same handful of looks, which could get him into your 18-20 carry total? Otherwise, I think it'll be a split between Bolden and Jackson on some level.

Miami's 30th against the rush. I seriously expect the Patriots to run 35 or 40 times.

I would have to imagine that you're right, although I think we'll see a bit more of Bolden than some may think. I'm seeing it as a glorified preseason game, particularly with Jackson as our only real rushing threat for the postseason.

15 carries should be a good guess in my opinion.

i wanna see brady hit him out on the flat with some running room. our oline sucks at run blocking. we miss dlew badly.

I thought he looked old and slow, hopefully he looks better in Miami but II don't get the clamor for him to return, I would rather see them draft one or sign a good back in FA.

Without a doubt.

As a matter of fact, they may end up going both draft/FA.

Do not expect a large dose of Jackson today, maybe 10-12 carries, continuing to shake off the rust and getting game ready for the tournament might be best for him.

But I am usually wrong about these things.. would never bet on what the Patriots do.

Guy looks huge...says all the right things.....looks to be a good pick up....would like to see him contribute and participate in earning a ring.....

Great interview! Comes across sincere, motivated, and mature! Another potential FA steal? We'll see, but I like it so far!

And in other news Roger Goodell announced the Jackson Rule. Players are ineligible for the playoffs unless they were on a team's roster for game 12 of that season......
Just a joke but he probably is thinking along those lines and he could probably get the Competition Committee to go along.....
In that vein, how come the Patriots don't have anybody on that Committee?? Guys like Fisher have been on it forever. Why not term limit people to 5 year terms to get new blood on it, and maybe somebody from the Patriots???

Re Jackson, there is a story ( sorry no link) that early in his rookie year training camp the Rams linebackers coach walked through the locker room and saw Jackson with his shirt off and thought he was one of his linebackers because of the way he was built...

Steven Jackson fan here!

No complaints about giving up the 2nd for Corey Dillon, but when I watched Jackson I used to think that he was the back that Laurence Maroney should have been. I don't think that there was a better broken-field runner in the NFL. He could make people miss or knock them over. If we get 80% of that it will have been another incredible steal by BB.

he looked better than blount imo

If I am Miami I put 8 in the box on 1st down, double Gronk on pass plays and dare you to beat me throwing to LaFell and Martin while weathering my pretty decent pass rush.

And that's pretty much all I've got.

I think Bolden will be the primary back going forward but Jackson will still get 5-10 touches a game.

I like Bolden too, but Ivan your Bolden boner is way bigger than mine

Thanks for info, is that per game?
That's the total for the two games (Jets and Dolphins). And they all get playoff cuts.

Relative to NFL players, he's doing this for free although I feel weird saying that as "free" is more than most of us make in a year.

I really don't see how he looked old and slow. He looked to hit the hole hard and fast. Adrian Peterson would look old and slow behind our patchwork line who did not play well last week. I think they are doing what they can, but in no way did he look old and slow to me.
I don't think I've seen any no huddle offense this year, that's very telling to me.

I didn't think he looked any worse than Blount, and if that's the case, he's an upgrade as they'll have the option to pass to him out of the backfield.
