Peter King - "New England fans have an inferiority complex"

Calling out an entire fan base...he probably figured better to ingratiate 31 fan bases at the cost of 1.

His popularity must be falling, so this is his first stop gap.

During the winter, I spend a fair amount of time in SW Florida and have gotten very friendly with people from the mid-West. The running joke among them all is that we New Englanders have a superiority complex. I always jokingly tell them that if we seem that way, it's because we do. The funny little unspoken secret that both they know and we know is that I'm only half-joking...;)

Peter King's success has always mystified me. No surprise that he's so completely obtuse as to not realize that you don't apply a double standard to defend yourself and your "sources" against the accusation of employing double standards. He's an intellectually lazy oaf, with nothing really newsworthy to give you beyond what the clown car on Park Avenue spoon feeds him. That being the case, given what we know about the truthfulness of R. Stokoe's ship of fools, we only hurt ourselves if we give two craps about what this worthless pantywaist thinks of us.

If the concern for some of you is how his opinion of us adds to the negative view of us nationally then - while I get that it sucks - ignore their noise and don't let them spoil this for you! We spent years around here waiting for what BB/TB are STILL giving us, so embrace their jealousy and let them all suffer in it.

Funny thing is: I was scrambling Eggs to make what I pass for an Omelet the other Morning and ~ God help me ~ found myself thinking of your amusing SigPic...is that what that guy's actually doing??

Were you also playing the bongos and doing the split while scrambling eggs by any chance? ;)

I'm surprised he could stop stealing baseballs from children long enough to express this opinion.

Well patsfans definitely have a "douche radar"..... And Pecker Queen definitely wins the Lifetime Douche Award......

Yeah, we can't help but get those feels of inadequacy when we only average about one Championship parade each year since 2001!

Not here to defend King at all. He used a poor choice of words. At least it seems he was talking to the Dr. and the reporter and is trying to do his homework. He defended Al Jazeera reporting on the employment of the intern thing. He also said Brady got railroaded.

The last thing we need is to change the topic from what needs to be investigated to "is this comparable to how the mediots and league treated Brady." This has nothing to do with NE and we shouldn't give them a way to change the topic. Imo Pats fans should just sit back and watch. This is not going away.

I haven't really gotten upset about the coverage differences between this and the initial stages of Deflategate because it is a wasted effort that will only get my blood to boil while the rest of the country doesn't give a crap.

That said, for King to not see why Pats fans would get upset about the differences in coverage of the two stories. The same people in the media who dissected Brady's press conference by convicting him because when asked if he cheated he said he didn't think so are now taking Manning on face value without even looking at what he said and looking for inconsistencies. The same people who took a false report the PSI levels of the footballs as fact are dismissing video evidence because the Guyer Institute said the guy never worked their in 2011 (which has audio evidence that it was a lie) and the guy says now that he lied when he was being secretly videoed (none of them question whether if he was telling the truth then and now lying since his career would be over if he actually gave away protected patient info) and the source was a foreign network (although they have an American network) rather than some unnamed source to Mort.

Personally, I don't care about the story itself. I still believe cheating is rampant throughout the NFL and a large number of players are on something illegal. But then again, deflating footballs are even lesser a crime than that since it is an equipment violation.

Well, you have to understand that the way a denial is worded and delivered means far more than any evidence. I mean, Manning used the word "garbage," so that's that.

It's like this guy...I mean, he waved his finger! No way he's lying.

Interesting subtitles there, btw. Actually, this version is probably more accurate...

It only takes a few minutes on this forum to come to King's conclusions. This place is littered with posters with an inferiority complex when it comes to the Patriots.

This thread is a prime example...it's a goddam 3 page thread complaining about how some nobody "dissed" Patriot fans. On any given day about half the topics on page 1 are more or less about a bunch of people here butthurt over some other nobody's opinion of the Patriots.

Newsflash, if King's statement affects you enough to post some derogatory garbage on a discussion forum then you probably have an inferiority complex.

I agree with you that there are far too many threads about random negative comments from nobodies. Ignoring them would be much smarter.

Having said that, this is not the thread to say that. King, like him or loathe him, is one of the most visible NFL media personalities in the country. These issues--the reporting of deflategate and the Pats in general compared to the rest of the league--are relevant and real. King dismissing charges of a double-standard as Pats fans having an "inferiority complex" is absurd. Sort of goes beyond getting "dissed."

Its the same ole same ole here. Somebody says something bad about the Patriots and people take it as a personal attack.

With that said I think King chose his vocabulary poorly. What some on this board seem to have is Complex Trauma attributed to the half-ass reporting and league office railroading from Spygate and Deflategate respectfully.

King could have said Tom Brady has an Oedipus Complex and there would be 4 pages worth of *****ing.
