Vollmer has ankle sprain

Am I the only one on this board who is reminding people that the Dolphins are an NFL team? I sure hope that the Patriots aren't thinking the way some of our posters are thinking!
come on now, the COLTS beat the Dolphins yesterday....the COLTS.......jeezus.......;)

As I recall, a high ankle sprain could involve a hairline fracture. Apparently in an area of the two bones, tibia and fibula, where they come together with the ankle. In other words, the tendons and ligaments there cover the fracture.
a high ankle sprain occurs up towrds the knee, the tibia and fibia are held together by ligaments. the ligaments are damaged or torn. so theres no bone involved, its not a fracture

VS not having them at all because they came back too soon so you trot out what you had vs the Jets yesterday which was awful.
I don't think anyone is saying to rush guys back before they are ready, just that we shouldn't sit guys who are healthy to protect them. That would be a recipe for disaster..

I chicken everytime someone mentions the Deer spray...

Since losing Solder, I have held my breath re Vollmer. Want that guy back for The playoff run.

OK, but I just read the exact opposite on a reputable site.

Three weeks to heal I'll take Vollmer at 80% vs the alternatives.

The news on Vollmer is pretty good so far.

That's good news. Glad it's not season ending. Having him back at tackle for the playoffs is huge.

If this is true, it is amazing how I have thought some players were done this season only to be wrong.

Get some rest. We'll see you in about 3 weeks, big guy.

It appears the Pats dodged another bullet...

I'm not seeing anything in the media that says this is a three week sprain (or a two week sprain, or anything else). I've had sprains where I wasn't able to jog after three weeks, much less dance and pivot like a tackle needs to when defending against speed rushing moves.

I'd love for three weeks to be true. Anybody got a link to support it?

I haven't seen anything indicating a time table either, so I have no idea how long this will take to heal. But I always find it funny when regular folks compare their own personal injury to that of a professional athlete with regards to healing time. These guys are physically on a different level than 90% of the population, plus they have access to the best trainers and equipment money can buy......

He was carted off, anything short of IR is great news imo. As far I'm concerned this is a team to get behind because they have been through the grinder and could well be relatively healthy for the tournament. They are tough as hell, battle tested, and have the best leaders in football, I love their chances for a 5th Lombardi.

Folks - you must remember that Dikembe works in mysterious ways. His spell said "No more major injuries." His spell *prevented* Vollmer, Amendola, Hightower, and Waddle from major injuries and turned them into minor ones. We must give our thanks to Dikembe, and continue to respect the clock as payment for this blessing.

A ligament that is torn is torn, and will only heal so fast regardless of how much medical attention it gets. Sure, my injury that may take 6 weeks may take a hyper-attended athlete 5 weeks (a huge difference in medical terms), but to suggest that the comparison of one human body to another isn't relevant here is preposterous.

It really is irrelevant, to cite an injury that happened to one person and how long it took to heal that injury, for that person is less than relevant when discussing an injury to a different person about which we have no idea of the severity.

didnt he get some kind of scan today? any word on the results?

Which was the premise of my original question: how severe is his injury? Many people here were posting as if this were known to be a three week ankle sprain for him. Ankle sprains can vary tremendously in healing time; I know that from personal experience as well as common sense, and modern medicine has not devised a way to standardize the healing time across all severity, despite your protestations to the contrary.

One would think that a month should be just about the worst case scenario. That would put him back for the AFCCG, assuming that we win our divisional game.

If he's back in 3 for the divisional game, all the better.

What the fans think has absolutely no bearing on the game.

This. The Idea that our Confidence will somehow undermine our Players's Focus is ludicrous.

Whoever's out there will be playing for the #1 Seed...and will be playing for Bill Belichick.

Players are Human...But I don't think we need to worry about their Focus this week.
