The exchange between Blakeman, Slater:

Seems like either a sabotage by Blakeman, or previous context telling the refs that if they won, they would kick it.

Will be interested in hearing explanations.

Clete didn't give Slater the wind, which is what they were taking. He let the Jets pick the direction.

He also shouldn't ask a leading question to start with, it should be something like "what is your choice?"

Slater said - "We want to kick off in that direction"
It's a classic mistake, has happened before in NFL lore.
He should have said - we want to defend that end zone, in trying to pick a direction.

Really bad for a Pats captain, sorry.

Am I crazy??? Or did Slater elect to kick, which is fine (I can see reasons to do so) and then the ref asked the Jets "which end would you like to receive?" It seems that we meant to kick, but then WE are supposed to choose the end to receive. This is my interpretation of this whole thing. I think Slater was trying to say "hey don't we get to choose the end of the field" or something along those lines? Why did the Jets get to receive the ball AND get to choose the end of the field?

I'm expecting BB to say the usual: "We didn't make enough plays to win today".

And he'd be right.

He must have gotten some context that New England was considering kicking. We have done this before in OT successfully.

Because the Patriots won the toss and chose to kick. The Jets then get to choose which end of the field they get.

What Slater meant to do was choose which end to defend.

But at end of the day, the defense could not make the needed stops.

And on offense, we missed our usual clutch Amendola catches we normally get that normally play a huge pet for us.

Not in OT. Slater had a brain fart

Based on what people are saying, there is no scenario that the person winning the toss gets to chose the endzone they are defending?

The Pats have received in OT before, the 2013 game against Denver. The Pats played the wind. What is odd, is that they should have been able to choose which side to kick to - as they did in 2013.
