Statistics on aging running backs are not good:

Inside Slant: Running back cliff after age 27

But an individual is not a statistic. Someone who is highly motivated and experienced, good at blitz pickup and is decent at catching the ball and getting us a couple of hard yards (without fumbling) when we need it is going to be a lot better than going with an inexperienced back (like Iosefa or Ball) or one like Bolden that isn't really a between-the-tackles guy.

The St. Louis City Council approved the financing for the new Stadium. They are staying put..
Seemed to me that there was still some uncertainty in how much the NFL was throwing in the kitty?

hate to rain on some's parade, but sjax looked slower than blount last year. I don't think he got any faster sitting out until now. Hopefully he has a few drops left in the tank.

Neither RB hits the hole fast. If SJax can give the team 10% more than what Joey Sofa gave them yesterday mission accomplished.

That may be, but the St. Louis City council passed what they needed to for the financing despite those questions..

Don't be so sure. The STLCC proposal calls for the NFL to put in $100 mil more towards a stadium than usual. And the STLCC proposal still depends primarily on state funding and so the state has to approve that.

He's only 32 and any nagging injuries have likely healed. There's a chance he's picked up some of his lost speed. I don't remember him having any major injuries.

Yep. State is asked to kick in half a billion clams.

Plus Kroneke has given no indication of wanting to stay in STL.

Here's hoping the time off got him some fresh legs and that he's hungry for a SB title.

I can't believe people are worried about waiving Iosefa. I'd give that move a 99% chance of happening.
Ditto. I have some hope for Jackson. We will see.

I was all excited to see Iosefa because people on this forum built him up so much. With all due respect to be a RB in the NFL you have to have some quickness to the hole and great vision. Although Iosefa has great heart he lacks on both of those categories.

Put him back on the PS if must be and let's see if Jackson can hopefully become rejuvenated and contribute on a Primetime level. Put your binky's down and put a little chew in your gums

It is Super Bowl time not American Idol.

I'm guessing that, since they signed him, they liked what they saw in the workout. I guess we'll see.

Yup, we'll just have to test him out sunday. We can use him as a battering ram against the jets D and if he knocks calvin pace in his rear we know we found a winner.

To be fair, it's easy to forget considering how bad most of his teams teams were. Not to mention that team he played on went 8-8.

So we could say this is his first time being with a team above .500 ;)

They won the wildcard game, though.

Just seeing this for the first time. I spent most of the morning writing my "idle thoughts". I couldn't be happier. Once I heard he hadn't left the city, I was hoping this would be the outcome, since it was clear that even if he signed late last week, he wouldn't be available for the Titan game, so why use the roster spot.

He lilely has had the playbook over the week end, so he'll be a couple days ahead mentally, though I doubt he will get much action vs the Jets. However as someone already pointed out, he will have nearly a month before we see any playoff action so he should be "September ready" when that game comes.

Then he will have up to 3 games to wipe out 12 years of frustration of constantly being the best player on a bad team, and add his name to the long list of players who have come here and realized they had died and gone to football heaven. ;)

I peeked in on a Falcons message board to see what they were saying. Not a lot of hate for the Pats, which seems rare these days. They seemed divided on if he still had some game left, we'll find out sooner than later. This comment was funny:

Steven Jackson in his workout: "Wait...you guys play games in January? That's crazy talk!"

You forget how many teams consistently don't make the playoffs and how lucky we are year after year.

Blount's been running behind a lousy OL this year, yet he averaged 4.3 ypc. So let's stop with the "slower than Blount" nonsense.

To my eyes, Blount has been slower than Blount last year. And Blount has never been a battering ram at the line of scrimmage. Jackson brings a lot more toughness at the LOS and I expect him to be more effective in short yardage, which has been a rare missing piece fort the offense.

blount was terrible this year, indecisive and no burst at all..Iosefa looked better than he did.

And yet, somehow, despite all our pronouncements, he still averaged 4.3 yards a carry.

Really hope this works out. If he has some relatively fresh legs to give it his all for a handful of games, it could end up being an outstanding signing. Always liked the guy.

I am talking about reporters not you. If a reporter is going to make a tweet, he better damn well look up the correct information
Alright, just wasn't sure what context you're statement was in
