No, they refuse to buy pizza from Papa John's because it's Papa John's.Do the Broncos refuse to buy pizzas from Papa Johns because of salary cap implications?

My view of the article depends heavily on whether or not it includes one essential point -- and it does.
Without that, it would be a hatchet job. With that, it's an attempt to do good journalism.
It's a hatchet job
There's one other issue that could be at play: does Brady directly benefit from any such expenditures? For example, if the ownership structure mandated that Brady receive 10% of all revenues, then one could argue that 10% of whatever the Patriots paid to the company should count against the cap.
Frankly, I think the sequence was and is:
I agree strongly with the second bullet point and have mixed feelings about the first one, so I don't see a strong basis for outrage at the article.
- Is Guerrero dirty? Yes.
- Does this reflect badly on the ethics of Brady and/or the Patriots? No.
That said, I didn't find it interesting enough to read verbatim at that length.
Not sure what the financial services industry has to do with providing alternative physical therapy services to players. Not sure why posters keep on alluding that this may be a salary cap violation issue when both NFL and NFLPA both stated this has nothing to do with salary cap.
Brady is an investor, he doesn't physically do anything (massages, therapy, sell drinks, etc.). If Brady owned 10% of Nike stock and the NFL teams ALL buy crap from Nike, the stock shoots up and TB makes a profit, is he skirting the salary cap by profiting from services or merchandise purchased by an NFL team?
He made claims about a nutrient in an infomercial, right? That makes him dirty?
In the financial services industry, there are lots of instances of possible conflict of interest I have seen which is what this relationship is being painted as by some people with regard to the salary cap. This is why I say the Patriots and TB need to be careful. That's all.
Just because Brady "doesn't physically do anything" has nothing to do with this. Though the fact that TB is himself following up on unpaid invoices belies even that reasoning. This is not the point though, it is the fact that he COULD be a major investor in this business and in turn be one of the primary beneficiaries of a monetary relationship with an organization who has to live by unique rules like a salary cap.
This is not a case of owning $5 million worth of shares in a company like MSFT that is worth billions and where the person has no control and is merely a passive investor. This is why I hope that the check and balance system actually turns out to be transparent.
I am not saying they are skirting the rules in any way because it looks like the service they provide to the team is truly unique and beneficial based on the statements by players who have used them. You have come out in staunch defense of a situation we know very little about because you are a big fan of him and the Patriots. I am too by the way which is why I am not condemning either of them in any way. I just hope they are aware how this looks like to some and that they have taken steps to make sure that all is kosher.
Brady seems brainwashed by this guy but you can't argue with the results. It's concerning that a man with multiple fraud cases in his past seems to have so much influence over him. People can change but often the root cause of fraud is some sort of addictive behavior (e.g. spending, gambling, etc.) that will continue to drive them to lie, cheat, and steal to get what they need. Screw the salary cap - Brady getting ripped off by this guy is the far greater likelihood.
The other thing that sounded weird from the article was the fact that Brady was contacting legal counsel for an invoice. Could be nothing, but it could also suggest an issue requiring escalation, which could suggest the company TB12 being under some sort of financial pressure. And who would make that happen????
You guys need sports reporters like we have in Charlotte. Rainbows an Unicorns 24/7. Lol
If Brady takes any supplements from this guy, I hope he has the contents triple checked by the league.
