Watch out for the NFL* shenanigans today. Footballs will be measured during today's game

If they don't, then I don't know what know what the Krafts are doing. There is, as far as I know, no rule against them doing that.

It would be nice to have a safeguard against getting screwed over by the league again. At a minimum, it should keep the NFL testing on the up-and-up. If there are any differences, the Patriots can say they documented their entire process and will be completely transparent about it. Will the NFL be able to do same?
Bob still trusts Goodell. He doesn't think ole Roger and the league office are out to get us.

I hope the Pats film their crew inflating the footballs to spec and have video proof of them handing them off to the refs without any other chance for alteration.

However, even if the numbers come out and aren't favorable (they may not be, since it's not a wet game), who gives a s***? The NYJFL already punished the Pats for it. What're they gonna do? Dock an extra pick after the fact just 'cause?

However, IMO I don't think we will ever hear the results.

There is no way a fair evaluation does not show a decrease in psi. The dry weather doesn't matter because it's actually colder today than in the rainy game last year.

The league clearly has No idea what they're doing

They do. It's called the "whatever we can do to make the Pats look guilty" game.

Are they going to measure the footballs on the sideline once they have reached equilibrium? No NO nO Can't let the fan base see how the weather affects PSI.

They are going to bring them back inside and let them warm up so that no weather effect is noticeable. They are actually going to swap them out with the backup footballs. Ironic.

Irony being that if they had just kept the AFCCG footballs in question in the locker room and allowed them to warm up instead of reinflating them and used the backup footballs, we would have never been in this mess in the first place.

I don't think goodell is going to be able to change the fact that balls lose air pressure going from warm to cold.

"A 10 lb ball is either to throw than a 12.5 lb ball." - John Clayton, Ian O'Connor and a host of other nitwits.
John Clayton lives in his mother's basement. (Stupid. ESPN commercial). Always thought them calling him the professor was moronic. He proved that with his Deflategate coverage.

Ensure the gage is calibrated.

Have all of the balls for both teams in the same room and have them be there long enough to reach equilibrium.

Test one ball for each team alternately.

Have the balls in use exposed to the same conditions prior to testing them at half time.

Ban Mike Kensil from even being in the stadium.

So on the heels of a brief being filed that details how the NFL's investigation was fraudulent, they decide to do a spot inspection of the game balls today? Strange timing.

The arrogance of the NFL and the Commissioner is simply off the charts. I guess they feel that as long as they can manipulate public opinion, they are above the law (both the labor law and the laws of physics).

How can this even be accurate if it's not raining too?

Bob still trusts Goodell. He doesn't think ole Roger and the league office are out to get us.

Which, in a story with several unbelievable moments and comments, might be the most unbelievable aspect of it.

To follow this tangent a little more, Bob Kraft made a comment to the effect of "It's not Roger, it's the people around him." Maybe Kraft truly believes that and maybe it's even true, but shouldn't the fact that Goodell hasn't changed the "people around him" and is still listening to them be a huge red flag to Kraft?

Oh wait I just figured it out....the movie Concussion is being released in 5 days! Time to start a "see the patriots cheated" scandal because we all seen how much more people followed that than actual issues.

So last night there are two Rat fumbles that the Rats were allowed to keep on questionable circumstance.

Today, the Pats' balls are measured after the NFL* announces it, while never announcing any other teams balls being measured in any previous games.

Only three weeks left before the playoffs as teams fight in earnest to make the playoffs and get favorable seeding, so maybe time to give the Pats more distractions now, since an off-season filled with NFL* and media induced distractions hasn't been enough to derail the Pats.

And here we thought the Pats were going to be able to relax and enjoy a likely easy week.

Bleep the NFL*!

It's not pedantic at all. This conflation of psi and weight is at the heart of why the ignorant think this is an important issue. Maybe if we converted to pascals so the word 'pound' isn't invoked...

Can't do that. You would have Volin writing about a programming language and the mediots who follow him wondering why they didn't use C++.

No armed guards following every football that Patriots are handling?
No camcorder following every fooball that Patriots are handling?

o_O

And both team's balls should be measured at the same exact time at HT and post-game. Not Patriots first and then Titans 10 minutes later.

And by the same type of gage with same length of "sraight" needle.

Damn it!! Now I have to wear my tin foil hat.

"Well a couple of them were close" would be enough to throw Brady's fantastic year under the bus.

I swear to god if any funny business comes from this, I'm walking away from the nfl until Goodell is gone.
