The theory has been advanced by none other than Mike Pereira. "All of a sudden, decisions that were being made on the field or in the stadium, all of a sudden are being made in the league office. Basically, what it looks like is that the league office is making decisions on who possibly wins or loses the game," Pereira said.

When I first heard that the NFL was going to let the VP of Officiating have direct communication with officials during the playoffs, my first thought was Roger Goodell wants to make sure he screws the Patriots. Like he wants to be 1000% sure that they don't make it to the Super Bowl and that he doesn't have to hand the Vince Lombardi trophy to Tom Brady.

Now, it appears I was kinda right.

Mike Pereira works for Fox Sports now but he isn't just some media blowhard. The guy was the Director of Officiating for the NFL from 2001 until 2004. He was the Vice President of Officiating for the NFL from 2004 until 2009.

This guy is a former insider. He was literally in charge of officiating in that league for Christ's sake. And he is saying that it looks like the league office is making decisions on who wins and loses games? That is some heavy duty **** right there. He's not speculating and simply accusing the league of rigging games. He is telling us this how it is going to go down in the playoffs.

I'm not surprised, just surprised Fox let Pereira's statement reach the airwaves. It's obvious the NFL is fixing games and have been fixing them for years now. Deflategate or screwing the Pats is no more than a scapegoat to distract the less informed fans with.

Most fans are in denial because the thought of football games being fixed ruins everything they ever believed about the sport. All you have to do is open your eyes. There is a reason certain teams are always in the playoffs and there is a reason why underdog teams always win the SB. It makes for a good story = $$$ for Goodell and those greedy owners to force into their overfilled pockets.

Less inflammatory article, with more quotes.

Pereira sees some drawbacks to the new officiating protocol

“Basically, what it looks like is that the league office is making decisions on who possibly wins or loses the game,” Pereira told ESPN. “You could go back to the old theory of the conspiracy of the Raiders, that the league didn’t like [former owner] Al Davis and all the stuff that went along with it. All of a sudden, decisions that were being made on the field or in the stadium, all of a sudden are being made in the league office. That seems to be the wave of where this is going.

Someone asked what "the fix was in" meant. Well here it is, my answer.

Any time you say, "we're going to call the league office for help on this ruling," you open yourself up to questioning. It's never been done before and now some guy who's never reffed a single game is going to have the opportunity to influence the biggest games of the year? And he works at league HQ?

Sounds fishy...

We'll see if Mike P has an unfortunate accident in the near future

maybe a mysterious power outage for 20 minutes after which he's found strangled by a loose power cord inside the Fox Sports studio...and then Ray Lewis can explain how "he tripped in the dark and hung hisself..."

Not a suprise the league has been fixing games. They can't really ensure a victory or a loss. What they can do is influence a la the Broncos game. This fact makes the Patriots success all that much more impressive. Beyond that in actuality.

This should be a separate thread, but i think we're all numb to the incompetence of the overpaid and unqualified by this point.

That's right, The Corruptioner needs a committee because he, his minions, his henchmen and the clueless head of a job he knows nothing about, Blindino, can't decide how to tell if you caught the freaking ball.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

Roger Goodell forms new committee to fix NFL's catch rule

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Wednesday that he has asked a group of former players , former and current general managers and former officials to make recommendations to the league’s competition committee about making changes to the league’s catch rule according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.

The competition committee altered the catch rule last offseason, but they did not make a new rule. Now Goodell is looking to more input for people outside the committee.

Whatever the fark that means.

Reached in his office, Goodell explained.

I believe it. As recent as a few years ago, I would have thought the idea of "A fix is in" was total paranoia. But it is so obvious anymore. I see more and more long time, hardcore fans believing it as well. As was mentioned in another thread, former commish, Rozelle didn't want to overexpose the NFL. He was a Football guy, not a money guy. He didn't want Thurs Night Football and Saturday games. Goodell is there to push and push for the owners. They want more weekday games and to expand all over the world. They want an 18 game season. Fantasy FB, Fanduel...They want every team (and fan base) to experience the taste of success. Fans of newly successful teams spend more money than teams who have been there already. Having the league make these calls from the league office is just another step towards catering to the younger, casual, merchandise buying "fans" who care more about wearing their favorite "Star of the week" jersey, than the game of Football. I saw lot of new Seattle fans after they won the SB, And I see a lot more Panther fans this year, but they don't even know their next opponent. It's really sad such an awesome game is being micro managed and ruined

Last year, the Dallas - Detroit game turned on a non-PI call. There was serious outrage by the public and the media. The League does not care.
The next week. the Dallas - GB game turned on a controversial non-catch. There was serious outrage by the public and the media. The League did not care. The season moved on. There were two fan bases who were in agony over these calls.
At least, last year the calls were made and decided on the field. Now the league office has taken over the duties. We know the league office is full of BRAZEN crooks. Expect the worst

Couldn't they have called a bs penalty on Butler or something if they wanted to stop them last year? I feel like Pats wouldn't have won this many games. Certainly probably won't be favorable, I dunno about fixed though.

There is such incompetence it might cover the corruption, but remember, our quarterback is still being suspended for 4 games if found guilty because a team that lost by 40 points in the rain said it was because someone, unknown and unproven must have let air out of the ball, when weather alone could have, there's no reason to think they needed to and no one has said how a puff of air could cause a team to lose a game by 40 points.

And we got docked draft picks despite no violation having been committed.

So the game, draft etc. are being actively fixed. Are they trying not to make it obvious? I guess.
