Steven Jackson!

No question, but after an extended rest and for just a fraction of a season...definitely worth the look.

Agreed, hopefully he has kept himself in shape in case an opportunity like this was available.

Did Jackson get to play in the playoffs at all during his career?

Now this is interesting. All we need is 6 games from Steven Jackson. His last NFL wish is to win the superbowl.

You're telling me those last 6 games wouldn't be the hardest he'll work/run in his career? If he has those few games in the tank on fresh legs, he could be a big surprise.

he had to. assuming he was healthy that year... he was on that like 3 loss falcon team

jackson looked done with the falcons.
but if BB sees something then why not??? surprised they havent looked at ray rice yet.

It can't hurt to sign him. Who else is out there? I doubt Ball is the answer and the idea of Bolden/White being RB1 is terrifying.

Like Deus said, it would only be a 6 game rental really. One would think that he would be able to play decently well for that short of a time span.

Let's not get our hopes up too much.

The chances that Jackson has enough left in the tank to come in and help the Pats win a Superbowl is about as much chance that an undrafted rookie, with NO other offers will seal a Superbowl for you by making the biggest play, on the biggest stage, at the biggest point of the game.

So in other words, it would be a very Belichickian thing to do.

Jackson's stats from 2014 don't look that bad, actually, factoring in the Atlanta OL...

Imagine if they signed him and he reverted to pre-2013 form...

Every other team's fans' heads would explode. LOL

Jackson still had 700 yards and 6 TD last year... His YPC went down from 4+ down to about 3.7 last year but I would also echo the argument that the Falcons line didn't help much.

Long story short, I think he is an upgrade to White and Bolden as a between the tackles runner. Although i would argue that Bolden has a pretty darn good ST player and White looks really fluid catching the ball.

I hope he gets signed. I am sure they will work him out and see what he got.

If he is in, or can get in, shape, he's a good option. Even if he's "done", our other options are guys sitting at home who have never done a thing. Did I want Turbin a few weeks ago and really wish we'd signed him ? Absolutely. But we are where we are and, if in shape, Jackson is as good an option as there is, it would seem.

For those against Jackson...is he much worse than Blount? I think they are probably pretty similar at this point. and with Jackson, hes a guy who seems to be able to hold onto the ball. i think its a great move if we get him.

signing him would allow Bolden to focus more on special teams and provide a guy that i think we can trust not to screw up. he wont be the explosive guy he was early in his career, but we can trust him

F it. Sign him up. Like was previously mentioned it will only be for a few games. In sure he could handle it, that is if he still is in game shape.

I think thats the biggest hurdle. How quickly can he get in "football" shape.

Came across this from May -

Was hopeful to play this year, but only for a competitive team, no interest in hand holding.

I REALLY like White, have since camp, but Jackson could be a late season battering ram rental we could trust.
