I want the #2 seed

The #1 seed will most likely play pitt. KC has easy last 3 games, they will be the #5, pitt wins out and they would be #6....

If you expect the Steelers to win out then you are essentially saying that you want the Pats to lose at least 2 more regular season games.

That's crazy talk! I want the pats to win every game...if you need to have an unreasonable fear of any team it should probably be Carolina not Pittsburgh.

I swear there is always one of these threads every year..

The Steelers don't have the defense the Chiefs do. I think the Chiefs will be the tougher out of the two, if they make it. They can match up on defense with our offense and they don't make many mistakes on offense.

Without checking I think the Pats won the Super Bowl twice as a 2 seed. Great rainbows and butterflies. All you have to do is look at the Pats home record vs away in the last 15 years and you may think twice about wanting the two seed. Sure, the Pats have a better than most away record and have blown a couple of home playoff games but **** happens. 100% want the 1 seed.

Hoping to avoid a certain team is like playing prevent defense with the game not totally out of reach.

Playing not to lose is a strategy that backfires more often than not. I veiw trying to avoid a team in the same light.

Kansas City is no slouch - their defense will put Brady under the gun all game long.

Brady owns Pittsburgh. They're a good team. If they're good enough to come into Foxboro and beat the pats, good for them.

I DO NOT want to play in Denver in the AFCCG. Weird place, thin air, lightheaded refs, every damned time.

If the steelers are as good as you think, I'd rather take them out sooner then later, and then play a lesser team in the AFCCG at home

Screw that. I want HFA ensured with a #1 seed because it's, well, you know.....home field advantage for crying out loud. The Pats are the best team in the AFC. When healthy and at home in the playoffs they're chances are better than anyone else's. Why would you even want to chance that?

I want Carolina to go undefeated, so I can watch them lose in the playoffs at home and feed on the sobs and tears of their extremely depressed fans.:D

If you think Pittsburgh is the next best team in the conference, the likelihood is that you'll have to play them anyways. Getting them fresh off the bye seems better in certain ways.

Still, you want to play the AFCC at home no matter what. If the Patriots finish with the #2 seed, you are looking at playing the AFCC in Denver, in NY against the Jets, in KC or in Pittsburgh. We want nothing to do with that scenario. Zero. (I'm writing off the Bengals and the Colts with their QB situations.)

All three wild cards are 8-5. The seeding of the wild cards won't be known until week 17. The Steelers aren't even in the playoffs if the season ended today.

The Jets and Chiefs get the wild cards if it ended today. The Chiefs are in the best position to win out (Bal, Cle, Oak). The Squealers have to win out (Den, Bal, Cle) and hope the Jets lose to NE or Buffalo.

However this sorts out, we want to play at home.

I want the #1 seed. No question. I think they can beat any AFC team home or away, but it is always better to take away the uncertainty.

On to Tennessee...

Now now now. We don't want to be compared to #PatriotHaterNation.

(Although that scenario would be delicious trolling ammo :D)

You're over thinking.

Just win baby and get home field. If they can't beat Pittsburgh at home in a playoff game, they're not good enough.
Pats have Pitts number anyway.

Crazy talk. I rather feel that comfort at home. We need that one seed.

The #1 seed will most likely play pitt. KC has easy last 3 games, they will be the #5, pitt wins out and they would be #6. I know most pats fans are saying that they want the#1 seed because it insures home field throughout. I wonder if these people have looked at the scenarios and thought it through. I realize the canned response will be "you never know what will happen"
..so just give me the #1 seed.

I would argue that Pitt will not to lose to either Den or Cinn in the first round of the play-offs..no way, no how. We saw what denver was yesterday and Cinn without Dalton is toast. Pitt knocking of either of those would mean the #2 seed would have home field throughout. The #2 seed would also play KC/Hou/Colts in their first game.....so much easier.

So, bottom line, would you rather be the @1 seed and face Pitt in first play off game, or be the #2 seed and face KC/Hou/Indy...THEN be home in the championship game as Pitt would knock of the #1 seed in either Cinn or Den. That's how this is going to play out...
And if they get the #2 seed , you will kill them if they have to go to denver or somewhere else for the AFCCG and lose there for dropping a game vs the titans, jets or fins :)
The bengals game yesterday should tell you its a week to week league. That dalton injury has changed the bengals landscape. thats all it takes, at broken thumb.
So conjuring up scenarios is useless. Pitts may not make it.Heck KC may even win the division. Even NE may not make it if we continue to be unlucky with injuries and have major ones. Or NE may lose to anyone else at home freakishly like the stupid eagles game. So take each game for what is left , pray for no injuries and see what happens.

Dodging the Steelers could result in you getting the Chiefs. Might as well just stick with the #1 seed.
