Patriots sign former Buc CB Leonard Johnson

The kid definitely played well.

And he's not lacking for confidence :

""I did some great things in practice and guys were wondering, 'Who is this guy?'"

Leonard Johnson makes most of New England Patriots debut

Note that he signed a 2 year contract, that's a huge win for the team. If he's cut the second year goes away. If he does well, he's not a FA after this year.

Way to much celebrating, liked his play, but wow act like you been there before on a pass breakup, first sack dances now pass breakup celebrations...really.

In three months, to go from breaking your leg and getting cut by a losing team to being picked up by a 10-2 team, starting your first game, playing 80% of the snaps and getting your first pass break up on third down... yeah I'd be pretty damn excited, too.

He only did it when he made a 3rd down stop. Nothing wrong with celebrating about making a play on 3rd down.

Lmao, the Patriots are 7th in pass defense, the jets are 20th.

Normally I am not a conspiracy type of person. But this thought floated around in my head last night.

I thought it was odd when the Patriots cut Tim Wright so early in pre-season. We could hold onto 90 players. He was young and cheap. He had solid production his first 2 years and we know how much Bill likes his Tight Ends.

Then Tampa claimed him on waivers-they were right at the top and it made me wonder if we were doing them a solid after all we had gotten from them. Tampa had a chance to see if thye fit with where they were going and still received a draft pick when they decided not.

So then this releasing of Leonard Johnson from IR seems it was not something that you had to put in a waiver claim, just whoever stepped up first so the Patriots did not have to wait on other teams. Right when we really needed cornerback help Tampa does us a solid.

hmmmmmm could it be Bill is ..........

Conspiracy theories aside he really showed on television and played a lot of snaps in one of most impressive defensive nights.

Today so glad Tampa released him to us.

In a very limited sample, he looked very good in the slot. Quick, good hands.

Leonard Johnson was cut by the Bucs back in September so that kind of ruins the mushy gushy story line.

He was waived-injured, not just cut outright like he was this month.

Waived by the Bucs December 3, signed by the Pats December 9. So there was some time in between.

The Bucs put him on IR (I got corrected up above) so they would have had to wait something like 12 weeks to sign him again. I'm guessing the Bucs were doing Johnson a solid by cutting him because he was healthy.

great dancer

That reminds me that in the Belichick A Football Life, he had to go over in a film session that the players weren't celebrating good plays enough for his taste. "...He made a good play. No one came over to congratulate him or celebrate..."

As long as he keeps making plays who cares?

You will never know who will write a letter to the Boston globe and reminds us about the children.
