Thoughts On The Yankees

Now the Rocket will not pitch on Monday. Ths hits just keep on coming for this team. Pure comedy.

Here's to a full season of these Yankee problems.

You think he may want to reconsider this decision to come back and pitch for the Yankees?? Not the decision to come back ($$$) but to do it for the Yankees.......

I was just wondering what everyones opinion is on the Yankees being 12.5 or 13 games back of the red soxs in the east? LOL I personally hope they keep falling further and further back LOL how sweet would that be.
My thoughts, Yankees Suck.:D As I read the posts I couldn't beleive no one put that down, the classic Fenway chant!!

The Skanks have won 6 straight and are now 9 1/2 back. Every time they come to bat I hold my breath. I'd give anything for them to miss the playoffs, but I'm not counting on it. There are just too many mediocre teams out there.

Not to sound like an alarmist, they are now 8 1/2 out and have gained 5 games in less than ten days.

They came limping into Fenway two weekends ago, all but dead, they won two out of three and have been on a roll ever since, while the old towne team is collectively hitting like ****. Is it possible for a whole ******* team to go into a slump at once; apparently so.

Gotta love the assclown media types in the big apple; seems like they live to rag on the Yankees when they are down, yet when they show signs of life finally (what 200 million dollar payroll team plays like **** all year anyway, we all knew sooner or later the ****ers would come back from the dead), you hear crap like this; a rocket scientist who writes for one of the NY rags boldly predicted the Yankees would catch the Red Sox by July 4th weekend, priceless stuff, you can't make this **** up.............

They're on a tear right now and doing what they should be doing-beating the teams they should be beating-but it's not even the halfway mark yet. It remains to be seen if the Yankees can maintain this momentum, and I don't think this years Sox will collapse like last year. 162 is a great equalizer.

I'd rather be 7 1/2 up on June 15th, than 7 1/2 down. I think that would say it all for me.

The Yanks had a stretch earlier in the year when they won like 8 of 10, of coure the sox won 9 of 10 in the same stretch so it wasn't a big deal.

This streak just happened to coincide with Boston sucking.

I'm far from comfortable with the lead, but the Yankees will not stay this good and the Sox not this bad.

Its a bit early to start panicking unless you really expected the Sox to maintain a 10+ game lead and the Yankees to be under .500 the entire season. They still have the best record in baseball and are ahead of their division by a margin wider than any other division leader. Worrying is completely unnecessary until those facts change.

Keep in mind that they still have 31 games remaining against Baltimore and Tampa and another 15 against Texas, Kansas City and Chicago. Thats 46 games against the 5 worst teams in the AL. If they manage to win 30 of those 46 (.652WPC) while going .500 against everyone else, they will win 97 games. New York would have to play .660 baseball the rest of the way to match that win total. In other words, if New York plays every team the same way Boston plays the dregs of the AL, they will tie. Possible, especially considering that New York also has an easy schedule in the second half, but even after this past week it will still take a lot for New York to come back.

i finally agree with you on something

.

One thing you know will happen as long as Steinbrenner is there: the Yanks will ALWAYS contend. Right up to the day they are mathematically eliminated. I give the organization that much credit. They have built the most successful and famous sports franchise in history, and it wasn't built on giving up. Gotta love their grit. But also I gotta love the way the Epstein and Francona and the Sox have put together a pretty nice last five years, and a very decent first half.

Keep on keepin' on, Sox !!

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Yanks' hot streak consisted of games against the worst offense in the majors (White Sox) and the light-hitting National League. The Sox of Red went 16-2 vs. the N.L. last year and still missed the playoffs by a bunch of games.

The Sox just hit a patch where they couldn't hit, but their pitching was still very good overall. Good hitting teams will eventually hit again, but pitching staffs don't usually change their stripes.

If I were a Yankees fans (perish the thought) I'd also be very worried that the Yankees don't win unless Alex Rodriguez is hitting a ton. Seriously, he goes 3-4 or crushes a few, they have a chance of winning. But if he doesn't, they lose. The rest of that team isn't consistently producing.

Also, Johhny Damon really sucks now. Wow.

It might as well be noted that the Yanks are now 11.5 back and in third, .5 behind Toronto.

Boston and LAAAAAA are tied for the best record in baseball.

Leading up to the break the schedules look like this:

Bos:

3 @ Sea
4 vs. Tex
3 vs. Tampa
3 @ Det.

NYY:

3 @ Balt.
3 vs. Oak
4 vs. Minn
3 vs. LAA

Sea-Oak, Tampa-Balt, and Det-LAA are pretty much washes. Tex-Minn heavily favors the Sox.

The Sox should have a double-digit lead over NY at the break :).

It's funny to look bad on this thread that started about a month ago, when the Yankees were 12.5 back and they have gained a grand total of one game since then. Beautiful.

Fixit is correct, the Yankees beat up on the powerhouse Pirates and the pathetic White Sox, and have since crashed back to earth. Wonder if the clambrain NY sports writer who predicted the Yankees would catch the Red Sox by July 4th still feels that way.

And also, Johnny Damon is a complete mess, what a friggin bust he has been, good luck eating that salary Yankees, along with Giambino's. And as Payfraud goes, so go the Yankees. If he wasn't on the tear he's been on, they'd be 18 games out of first by now.............
