NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Caught on Camera Laughing at Concussion Joke

Here's a shocker for you - FoxSports argues it was fine for Goodell to laugh at Staubach's joke. They couldn't resist the opportunity to cite all the "predictable outrage;" even though it may be well deserved in this case.
Goodell is such a dope. According to multiple reports he pre-approved the joke so he knew it was coming in advance and still couldn't manage a more reserved response. Not saying he should have wagged his finger, but Goodell sits there with a dumb, gaping smile on his face for a couple minutes. I guess $44 million doesn't buy you what it used to.

It sucks it has come to this with concussions. Previous players should be compensated if the facts weren't out until recently.

But if you decide to play football, you have accept the risks as with anything. Concussions are part of the game. Each player has to decide if they want play with those risks. If they want to, after knowing all the risks, then there is no need to pay players after this discovery. It was their choice.

Lol what sucks is No one will do anything.

What really sucks is that there are people here who don't see the problem with the joke. Maybe if we joked about their family member's cancer they'd get a big chuckle out of that too.

Hey_____, I didn't know your child could get melanoma from sitting in front of a computer all day. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Real funny huh boys?

Yup. So let's all have a good knee slapping laugh over their misery. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If the day ever comes that Goodell, or anyone else who yuks it up over something so serious, has to deal with a family member suffering from some affliction, I'll be sure and have a good laugh over it at your expense. Deal?

That attitude reminds me of the joke we used to play on the girls when we were in grade school. It went like this: One of the boys would send a girl over to a second boy and tell her to ask him how his sister's dancing lessons were coming along. The second boy would feign indignation and sadness just the right amount and tell the girl that she isn't funny and proclaim, "my sister has polio."

It's the exact same thing only this time it's grown men having a laugh over a real problem. Meanwhile, Goodell and people like him have become rich at the expense of those poor slobs who are mush brains now.

Whats the big deal? The player made fun of HIMSELF, not anyone else. Are we so uptight now that we're no longer allowed to find humor in a joke a person makes about HIMSELF?

Yeah.... It's nothing at all like that.

Yeah.... It's nothing at all like that.

That's right. Those laughs we had as kids weren't about a real problem with real victims.

I'm not the least bit surprised that you don't see the problem.

So the slight deflation of footballs in cold weather is not funny whatsoever, and in fact, hurt the "integrity of the game".....

....but concussions that have been proven to lead to numerous deaths of former players is funny, joke-worthy even....

See why it's a bad look?

Well, he laughed about deflategate too a few months back when they said how good of a job he was doing with it. I think everything is a joke to him.

Why aren't you upset with Roger Staubach for making fun of himself?

Lots of jokes are funny, but not appropriate. When you're the head of a league that's been sued, faces a condemning movie, has had players recently commit suicide citing concussion related incidents, you stay miles away from anything joking about concussions.

Fortunately, the media picked right up on this, a full page and more on google news for the search terms.

The EX-PLAYER on stage who told the joke in a SOCIAL SETTING doesn't seem as worked up as the peanut gallery.....the same peanut gallery that tunes in every Sunday to watch their personal gladiators battle. I really don't feel your outrage because Goodell chuckled.

The problem, people, is the fact that there is a major motion picture coming out in regards to the ongoing "Concussion" issue regarding former NFL players. They think they can sue for the rights to the loss of their brains, the NFL disagrees. Take a joke how you want to, the fact that good ol' Rog (the original) is kowtowing to the new good ol Rog, says a lot about the direction of the game that we've been complaining about since the start of the season.

There's enough to hate on Roger about, this doesn't make the cut for me. It's a player making fun of his own situation.

Like when I make a joke about having an abnormally large penis and how it has held me back in life that's my right because of how I've had to struggle with it.
This was a hilarious post, and it had one of each type of positive rating except for a "like" which is rare, so I liked it, but now I'm starting to wonder what that says about me.

it's not a big deal ,but, if you're the commissioner of a sports league that has been sued for concussions and you profess to care about the safety of your players and you laugh at a concussion joke on camera, you are a moron.

I don't see the problem because there isn't one. Your idiotic snark towards me doesn't change that.

Hopefully decent people disagree and boot his ass out of his position. Some people think concussions and the NFLs handling of same, are big issues.
