"I told Roger I was going to tell that corny joke and he approved it, so uh"
Wow.

Awesome.

What a moron.

I was so hoping the camera would get back on him. 6 concussions, that's a riot, eh Rodger?

This is why I don't buy the evil goodell thought.

He's just incompetent. How that joke could possibly even be made, and then not knowing the appropriate way to respond tells me everything I needed to know.

I thought the joke was funny. Then again, I don't subscribe to this new fragile mindset that finds "outrage" lurking behind every door.

So the slight deflation of footballs in cold weather is not funny whatsoever, and in fact, hurt the "integrity of the game".....

....but concussions that have been proven to lead to numerous deaths of former players is funny, joke-worthy even....

See why it's a bad look?

Lots of jokes are funny, but not appropriate. When you're the head of a league that's been sued, faces a condemning movie, has had players recently commit suicide citing concussion related incidents, you stay miles away from anything joking about concussions.

Fortunately, the media picked right up on this, a full page and more on google news for the search terms.

Google

When I'm at work (ER) theres all kinds of stuff we find gallows humor in; we have the respect and wherewithal to not do it in a public or in your face way to patients and family.

I would expect Goodell to at least strive to that level. The fact he can't keep himself out of it just means hes a moron.

Because players have died and took their own life because of it.

There's enough to hate on Roger about, this doesn't make the cut for me. It's a player making fun of his own situation.

Like when I make a joke about having an abnormally large penis and how it has held me back in life that's my right because of how I've had to struggle with it.

It's not funny for two reasons:
1. It's not a funny joke. It's not even amusing, it's just stupid. He'd have been better off telling a knock knock joke.
2. Concussion syndrome is a serious matter that the league has ignored and there is a possibility of serious lawsuits that could have a real financial impact on the league so not funny.

It has nothing to do with faux outrage and everything to do with the Commissioner and his PR team repeatedly being tone deaf and clueless.

Except a joke about your penis is totally separate from your place of employment, it's a personal jab, nor is your response to that joke nationally televised.

If the company you worked for was involved in a large investigation pertaining to loss of life and promptly in the midst of a giant lawsuit....and your boss approves and laughs at a joke about it at your nationally televised Christmas party, that probably isn't the best look...

I hate Goodell as much as anyone here, but this isn't bad at all. Coming into the thread, I thought a hidden camera caught Goodell laughing at some hideous joke about concussions. As the astute fnord just pointed out, not only is he packing heat in his boxers, but there's a lot of **** to actually pile on Goodell about. Him laughing at Staubach making a light joke about his own concussion history is not one of those things.

Lol what sucks is No one will do anything.

Nothing to see here, although Kessler may enjoy using it to get a dig in when he gets the Brady case in front of the appeals panel.
