01 ~ Begin the Season with a Chance to win Back to Back Championships, we did.
02 ~ A deep and talented Team with High Hopes and Expectorations, we had.
03 ~ Start off with a long string of Victories, we did.
04 ~ Super Bowl Favorites, we became.
05 ~ Yet then...beset by Injuries, we were.
06 ~ Got blown out by the Steelers, we did.
07 ~ **** themselves, many Fans did, mm-mhh!!
08 ~ Went over to the Lame Side, they did.
09 ~ Forget who they were rooting for, they did.

10 ~ Sucks, suffering does.

Win, the Patriots will.

Ass, they will kick.

2004.

Forget it not.

There would be a great symmetry if the Pats were to win the SB in 2015. Three years after the Pats won their consecutive SBs, the lost to the Giants in 2007. The win in 2014 occurred 3 years after a SB loss to the Giants. A win in 2015 will create the following symmetry.

WWxxLxxxLxxWW

Edited symmetry per stephen44's correction.

Well I think that pretty much settles it then. ;)

Did we lose back to back games in 2004? I thought we lost a late one to Miami but already had a loss at that point.

Yes please! :)

I hate to be a downer, but the Patriots didn't lose consecutive games in 2004. We lost to Pittsburgh midway through the season and lost to Miami in a freakish MNF game week 15 (we blew an 11 point lead with less than 4 minutes to play). And also, it wouldn't be WWxxxLxxxLxxxWW. If we were to win this year, it would be WWxxLxxxLxxWW. Although there'd still be symmetry there. Maybe we can win this year and again in 2017 - then it would be: WxWWxxLxxxLxxWWxW. ;)

High Expectorations

I get the Star Wars references but what does a corn-spitting contest have to do with this season?

Thanks for that. Sometimes I get carried away with Xs, but that's another thread :)

Never forget the burnt orange Miami game of 04.

"Don't stop him. He's on a roll." ;)

I used this exact quote the other day in one of my classes. Only a handful of people, professor included, got the reference. To say I was disappointed is an understatement lol

But as for the comparisons to the 2004 team, the biggest similarity is the injury bug. However, the 2004 team did not have the issue of losing 3 (sometimes 4) of their biggest offensive weapons. If the Pats had lost Branch, Brown (for a game or two), Graham, Dillon, and Matt Light then I'm not sure if they win the SB that year.

We didn't lose consecutive games in 2004, and I don't recall blowing 14-point leads either

Actually before the season I was drawing comparisons to the 04 team defensively. Fierce front 7 with an iffy secondary. Strangely our secondary looks better thus year.

Butler > asante of 04
Ryan > gay
Dmc =< Rodney
Chung >= wilson

This secondary has more depth too.

Offense is better overall, but it was nice having a reliable run game :\

...

Was thinking the same thing this week, but didn't post it, and I'm glad you beat me to it. I would have just made the observation. You gave us YodaSpeare. Gracias.

I don't think we lost consecutive games though in 2004?
