No run game

Blount looked good in the first half running...we need to stay consistent and not forget about the run game. It will help the O-Line.
He was getting some yards, but he still looks slow and tentative back there in my opinion. I liked how Bolden was hitting the hole with more decisiveness when he got a couple handoffs late in the game. James White made a lot of plays when he got his chances. It was a good game for White if we are looking for a silver lining.

We could actually run today we just went away from it needlessly
That's what really sucks. For once we could actually move the ball on the ground. And yet we completely went away from it. I understand moving away from the running game when you are behind by 20 points. But we started moving away from it while we still had the lead.

As long as McD is OC you will not see run. He doesn't like it, doesn't scheme for it, doesn't have a feel for it's in-game timing. Because he isn't inclined or doesn't know how/when to use it he is quick to abandon it and get back to the passing toys he prefers. Even with the Colts, a team we destroyed with the run, he went away from it in the last game.

It's a personal preference I guess. I would prefer the power I with a stud back that teams fear. I like watching a winner just like everyone else, but prefer brute force to dink and dunk.

They sure as hell need to run consistently until the passing game gets back in synch. Brady is great, but he's not a cyborg. If he can't hit the short stuff consistently or run consistently, he's going to get swamped. No offensive line can hold up under those conditions. That's a myth in people's minds.

I would very much prefer a move to a run first/power running game over what they do now. If you beat up their (other team's) defense with a bruising attack it takes all the "mickey" out of their pass rush. I love watching the Pats win, but hate the current offense...

There is no secret here. Don't fumble punts, don't throw interceptions, don't get punts blocked, don't give up punt returns for TDs. The team can win without being dominant, they just can't play stupid like the Giants.

Thats the rex ryan offense.Sorry if they dont care for preference over winning .You will hate it when they dont get enough yards and try and push their power vs stout defensive lines. We have won 4 SBs with dink and dunk and the last one especially. To trash that concept based on one game is a reach. We ran a lot vs the colts also last yr based on matchups and thats what this offense is.A match up offense. Right now they dont have the players for the short game. Amendola gets doubled esp without gronk so they are trying the vertical game and dont have players for it either. And they are missing a 3rd down back like lewis/vereen big time although white played admirably yesterday.
Having said that, they shouldve run a lot more yesterday vs the eagles. They gave up early on the run and panicked with the trick passed trying too hard where they shouldve stuck to the run. Yesterday they did a lot of bungles which cant be translated as an epidemic for a team which knows how to win based on a loss.

No run game

I hate that we cannot run....
Every year this offensive scheme moves further away from what we were 10 years ago. I REALLY miss Corey Dillon. :(
That's because the game has gotten "further away from what we were 10 years ago." I get that we need far more production from the running game, but Corey Dillon and that style of O are not walking through the door. OP, I'm not trying to be a d*ck. I'm just pointing to the fact that the game is played differently now.

This so much this. They don't need to run every game, nor try to win the SB with it. However when you're missing key receivers, the passing game is struggling, your QB is getting pummeled, and you're picking up 4+ ypc you should probably run it more than 16 times.

Seems we won the first 3 SBs with a power running game based offense. We couldn't run against the Giants the first time and lost, didn't run too well in round 2, lost again.
The fact is the most successful teams year in year out for decades play tough D and successfully run the ball with balance on offense. The game evolves, but that is a fact that doesn't change.

Btw, my original post was just a gripe and is personal preference about what I like, not any type of analysis.

We won the panthers SB because of the running game ? West coast offense of the 49ers was all about running game and defense ? Anyways, the game is way different now. There is no doubt about the creativity of the offense and this offensive staff. They are way ahead of the curve than a lot of teams. Balance means nothing you cant get yards in the running game. Media Analysts keep saying number of attempts is important even if you dont get yards. Thats a lot of BS. You will be down 21-0 and then have to throw. The strength of this team is brady so i have no issue with them throwing. They just dont have people to throw to and their short passing game which is the running game is non existent . But they messed up yesterday by not running more when it was working. they shouldve employed the colts gameplan yesterday from the playoffs and last year.

Steelers are a great example of this. That team has been always run the ball run the ball all the time. Look now. They are taking advantage of their playmakers in the passing game. Pats cant run the ball because no one respects the passing game minus gronk/edelman/lewis.

If you're just going to twist everything I say, that's on you. The Super Bowl against Philly; we had balance, 112 yards rushing, 4 yards per attempt and Won the time of possession battle. What part of that don't you get?
And oh by the way, every 49er Super Bowl featured A top defense and balanced running attack.

Edit: you said Panthers, my bad. However, we did run the ball 35 times that game

Yup, when your starting RB and only FB goes on IR (and how many teams are even keeping a FB on the roster now a days?), sometimes your running game takes a hit.

Ok, if you want the pats to keep running when they dont have running attack just because we have balance great. Thats your opinion. Balance in my opinion is meaningless if not productive if you end up in 2nd and 9 and 3rd and 8. There is no need to ask what part i dont get. I get you want us to run the ball and play defense. Like all great teams do apparently and switch from whatever offensive system we have had over the years evolved under brady after 1 loss.

I miss the old running game, you're twisting that into the above. You get it, just seem to want to manipulate the conversation into what it wasn't for some reason.
