Eagles at Patriots post-game thoughts thread

Yeah, but that's a TD if Amendola's not held up. Throwing into tight windows is what Brady has to do with this group of WRs.

I get your point Deus. What happened really was the low percentage worst case scenario (i.e. 10-14 point swing).

It most absolutely was! What game were you watchin?!

So if NE had kicked it off the most likely outcome was PHI ball on its own 20. Instead, it was PHI ball on its own 40.

You really believe that all of 20 yards was this amazing game destroying thing that undid NE? If that's really true, the team's in a lot worse shape than anyone thinks.

Yeah but if you SAW the entire defense you would have seen THREE Philly defenders within the area of that throw...2 in the EZ behind LaFell and the DB covering him in front. LaFell has to run to the EZ for that pass to even have a chance but the Eagles had it defensed perfectly.

That's a TD if Lafell runs the route.

It cost them 20 yards of field position. I'd argue that the blocked punt before halftime was a bigger momentum swinger than that.
We were in control of the game it was shaping up to be an easy win. That kick and the subsequent score gave the Eagles the momentum and confidence that they never relinquished. It all started to fall apart after that play.

We lost but relax guys. A pick six, blocked punt for a td and punt return td. Those three things happened and we lost. That's like getting bit by a shark twice. We need one of these to happen in the regular season because the last thing is having a special teams that is complacent. I don't care about Brady's picks, he threw some stupid ones last year but he overcomes them, today some of our reciever forgot how to catch and that doomed us.

I can't even muster up the energy to be annoyed at the game. The OL has become such a joke that I just can't do much but laugh at this point.

No, that bone headed pouch kick was, it was the turning point of the game.

A 20 yard difference in field position in the 2nd quarter was the turning point of the game??

And at worse become a defender and knock it down.

You're talking about Brandon "What are these things on the ends of my arms?" LaFell. Don't be so sure about that.

28 points without your top 3 weapons is not exactly sucking.

Special teams absolutely sucked .......

Brady did his thing late in garbage time, but a 35-0 run is what you are avoiding to mention which is disingenuous.

Well I understand a lot of things happened today that don't normally, but given they play like **** last week it concerns me that they are going to continue the trend. Defense the last couple weeks don't look so hot, offense I can understand but Brady was able to move the ball when they went back to what they do best, uptempo and shorter passing, those long passes kill me.

That's the same Brandon as Brandon "I'll never crack wise about film study again" Lafell, I believe.

With very rare exceptions (e.g., the Butler INT), you can't just magically say "Without this play, we win/lose the game." For all we know, if Ebner's kick had gone the full distance, Brady might have torn an ACL on the Patriots' next drive.

QM it gave them good field position and Bradford cashed in and you can feel a momentum swing and then block kick TD Pats running out clock in first half. Eagles are blasting music in their lockerroom and are fired up. But with all that said still had a chance to tie it.

I would like to see where those "most here" are, seeing as everyone seems to accept that those three facets sucked tonight

The guy posting above you just excused all but the ST, but stupid throws into coverage, dumb calls, dumb timeouts etc. lost us this game.

This O-line is such a joke I would laugh if it were any team but the Patriots. What the **** is their problem?

So if NE kicked it away and PHI had it on their own 20 and picked up 20 yards in two or three plays, would you say that picking up those yards were the turning point in the game?

It isn't so much they lost to me, they way they lost - what happened to situational football, and worse than anything the seeding of the playoffs is now very much in question for the Pats. Houston put up a game today against buffalo, no easy task next week. I also think Brady was only throwing safe to DA, maybe worried about him getting hurt?

The oline i think is the same as week 1 and 2 . Brady just doesnt have players who get open in under 2 secs minus gronk/edelman and lewis so the oline is being exposed. Its the same line. Having said that they shouldve run the ball more today vs a average eagles run defense

Man, I'm surprised that so many were satisfied with today's game. I honestly thought that it was terrible.

It's different from the 2012 sunday-night 49ers game, where they were a genuinely great team at the time.

This Eagles team has ranged from mediocre to awful this season, they were 4-7, and the Pats were at home... this isn't a moral victory, it was a trap game in my opinion.

Especially given how Philadelphia didn't even play well on offense. The bulk of their points were special teams blunders that the Patriots don't usually make - poor dropkick that gave them good field position, blocked punt, kick return touchdown, etc. And then the pick-six, which Brady forced.

Offensively, the Pats were good enough to blow them out - I mean, they scored 4 TD's after all. But the offense was just choking throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters - Brady's pick, LaFell's poor route running (which led to Brady's 2nd pick), Blunt's regressive running performance, and our receivers dropping passes we needed them the most in the final drive. And our o-line being inconsistent; Brady had to act like Rogers sometimes.
