Game Thoughts: I am absolutely disgusted by the Pats tonight edition

Yeah thats ********. You are confusing 2014 with 2013 here but even then it is a flawed comparison because in one of the years Gronk had a surgery where everything worked as expected and he participated in all OTAs and TC while in the other year he had 4 surgeries one the same arm and was not back to healthy status until late in TC.

But that was discussed again and again last week in that idiotic Gronk Thread and I am too tired to talk through it again. Whatever. If you think that he doesn't care about the team then so be it, it is a pointless discussion especially in a game that had so many other issues to talk about.

Where did I say he didn't care about the team. Putting your own needs and concerns over the team doesn't mean you don't care about the team.

I admit I screwed up years. I am doing work and doing this. Not paying attention the same way I usually do. My bad.

My concern is that we are making the special teams mistakes late in the season. That is unusual for this team. Their special teams are generally outstanding. The Patriots usually play their best football this time of year.

Totally agree that this is very unusual and a bit alarming. Hope that this will add emphasis on situational ST play down the road. If anything I guess it is better to see problems exposed now than in the playoffs. Even if this is not really any consolation.

the margin of error is built in to a 4 game lead in the division. Home field advantage means nothing in the long term. We just have to get there, and we are already there. I am not saying gronk needs to miss every game til then, but i have no problem him waiting until his body allows.

First, I never said he should rush back before he is ready. I am saying he should come back whenever anyone else would which means he will not be be 100%.

Second, getting the bye is important to this year's Super Bowl goals. This team needs a week off and they could use an extra week for Edelman to heal before he needs to play games that matter.

Well if your version of the entire situation is true and he is ready to sit out games despite being essentially game ready then this tells me that he doesn't care about his teammates who play through their bumps and bruises. If you are really correct about it all, then is it really that big of a stretch to say that ?

thats not a moral victory. It was a tasty loss. I love an angry team going forward.

Sure but I don't agree this is like @KC last year.

All I am saying is no Gronk, Edelman, and Lewis is not the reason they called stupid plays, refused to block, and had the best QB in NFL throw stupid passes into double or triple coverage. I don't even want to mention how they were up 14-0 against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

the coaching has not been good the past few games

If Gronk is doing it that way, he may not see it that way. It seems pretty clear that rebreaking his his arm and getting the infections and additional surgeries have affected him (understandably). He may think waiting until he is 100% is best for the team because he won't be worried about the knee and if he is it might affect his play.

But I don't even know it is Gronk. I think it could be his father advising him to stay out until he is completely healed.

But I think we have beaten this issue to death.

Question on the trick kickoff play...

What do you think the real intent was? Was that the depth that was intended? Or was it supposed to go further but Ebner mishit his dropkick? Or maybe not as far? Or in a different direction?

(It'll also be interesting to see when it turns out the last time in NFL history a kickoff was dropkicked.)

You can go up big but no lets throw to som 5'9" midget who has two eagles covering him and then Brady drops to the ground in fear of tackling him.

I don't believe my brother who claims it is fixed but how do you stray away from what won you 14 or so straight games and suddenly play this ****y ass form of football, disgusting.

we arent disagreeing. This is a game they should win every week.

Doesnt change the fact that Brady playing like this with who he has available is an absolute treat. I feel blessed to watch the best of all time, no matter who he has available.

I have no idea what the intent was, but at least this wasn't a play that was destined to fail.

If I'm going to try to put a positive spin on this, there will be alot of naysayers about the Patriots this week, this team seems to play so much better when they seem to be overlooked. I know I'm reaching but trying to make myself feel better because man that game bummed me out :(

Pats just got blown out & embarrassed at home. NYJ just won a huge road game in comeback fashion. They are hot, Pats are not. The Pats r riddled w injuries. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Pats head into the meadowlands with the division still in play in 3 weeks...

Bill was arrogant and got out coached by a guy who was hearing talks of being fired.

I would say Bill simply strayed from what made him a legend, he didn't respect PHI.

I wouldn't exactly say the Jets are hot. They looked like hot garbage just three weeks ago after losing like four of five. They beat one bad team last week and one average team this week. That doesn't make them hot.

I better see an angry and focused team at the texans. This team has literally lost that mental toughness. It would be nice to have gronk but i doubt he will play

Looking at their schedule. They can go 10-6. They will beat the titans and cowgirls on the road. Playing them on the road won't be easy.
