Anybody else think Bill is going to have fun with the Gronk knee injury? They've been extremely cautious with injuries so far, keeping players out for multiple games (JC, Sheard) for things that may or may not have been relatively minor. For Gronk they've gone so far as to issue a warning saying basically he'll play when he plays.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see Gronk until January. Time to get the running game going and the defense should be healthy. I think Bill cares about seeding but he knows that this team when healthy is the best in football and I think he'll pull a greg popovitch and make sure that the team is healthy when it matters.

edit: maybe merge to gronk injury thread?

they should rest tom until january along with gronk.
brady's out there without his top 4 guys/behind a shaky line. if nobody gets open quickly tom will have to hold the ball longer/might be vulnerable to a big hit.

no idea why danny's rushing back so fast when he obviously isn't 100 percent. same with hightower....they should all take their time.

Not sure about the running game part, we just signed a small slot receiver and small running back. Can't read too much into bottom of the roster signees, they could be gone tomorrow, but it looks like they're more interested in the speed/quickness passing game we opened the season with.

Gronk, Inc. issued the warning

Let's face it, he's done. Why didn't they give up multiple high draft picks and valuable cap room for Jimmy Graham when they could have?

Gronk deserves some **** that is for sure if he is medically cleared to play and sits out.

LOL. Jimmy Graham is not medically cleared nor may ever be again. Pats fans have a right to be embarassed.

And he will get some from the media that's for sure...but as long as we get #1 in AFC..and he plays in playoffs..i don't care
I believe we will get the HFA still. With the Bengals and Broncos playing each other yet, theirs and our schedules, and the fact that we still have a game on both.. the odds are very much in our favor still.

Gronk wasn't on the field in the pre-season for a single snap. BB knows he would be ready to roll without needing pre-season. He's a physical player obviously. Is it conceivable that BB would rest him until the play-off start? Sure. It's also possible he plays this weekend against the Eagles? Yes again. Gronk has a bone bruise. Its not a stretching or a tear of any muscle, ligament...or even a break. I bone bruise only hurts...and not for long.

I love all things BB...even the Gronk mystery that this has created.

Yep, I think this is a major middle finger to the NFL while at worst somewhat rational and conceivably and for the best interest of the team. Listen to the language he uses when addressing the issue. Very matter of fact but completely consistent of what the NFL requires for fan and gambling purposes.

This could be the begging of Gronk being questionable with a knee injury for the next 2 years and not missing a game or BB could have him sit on the sideline, practice and play in the games he wants. I wouldn't put the latter past him.

How would you know that he is medically cleared to play and then sits out? Do you think the Pats are going to announce that? Do you think Gronk is going to say, yea I've been medically cleared to play but I don't feel like it?

This makes no sense. Gronk doesn't seem like the type of guy that wants to add drama to the team while trying to win a back to back SB. His value goes up if Pats win another SB and he is part of it.

Obviously if he is not ready he shouldn't play, period.

Gronk not the type that would add drama to the team, but if you remember 2013, and with him coming back from the forearm and back surgeries, he was in the middle of a tug o war with the Patriots on one end, and his family/agent on the other. I feel that can happen in this situation also.

You really can't fault both ends, but it could be another clash of views here, that could get nasty. Pats pay Gronk, and they want him to perform when he can, and lets face it, no player is 100% this late into the season.

Meanwhile Gronk is the money maker for the "Gronkowski's" His older brothers were just JAGs. If it wasn't for Rob, they would never be invited to award shows, and people wouldn't be paying top dollar to go to their cruise. They're just protecting their brand.

I think some of you are reading too much into this 100% thing. Ok nobody is 100% at this point in the season, but he was probably talking about the knee being 100% and not in a mathematical way, more based on his feelings, when he feels there is no pain anymore and no risk of a setback he will be back.
