Gronkowski Speaks Out on Twitter, Agrees Something Fishy Is Up with OPI Calls

Ian Logue

Rob Gronkowski spoke out on Twitter about the fact he agrees with many who feel he's being unfairly singled out for offensive pass interference calls.

Great-He'll probably be fined and suspended for the rest of the year for criticizing the league. Because #Integrity

good for gronk.
about time someone on our team ****s on the refs. now, maybe the refs will stop calling those ridiculous offensive pi's. gronk has more than every team combined.

**** you roger!!

I wonder if this was done at the encouraging of BB, it will hopefully help bring more attention to this situation.

(I know you're speaking tongue in cheek but) better to speak the truth and have Roger turn red than bend over for him.

What's the over/under on how fast this comes down?

Good for him though, after that game I'm really not expecting this team to catch any breaks this season. The league has absolutely zero interest in a Patriots repeat.

Agree completely, BB knows ESPN and NFL network will talk about this all week #OpiGATE #GRONKgate so millions will now pay attention to how OPI is called on Gronk.

Gronk is too smart to respond without BB's approval.

The explanation by Chris Collinsworth on the second call was laughable, he said that Gronk lowered his shoulder into the D-Back.. if anything he "dipped" his shoulder.. was he supposed to hit him with his chest???

I dont like the OPI calls but what is the rule? Is it a fair rule?

So (and Im not sure) a defender can hit a receiver up to 5 yards off the line of scrimmage and the receiver can only do it for 1 yard, crazy. But by rule doesn't the defender have the right to a piece of ground? In other words he doesn't have to get out the of the way if he doesn't want to.

Someone know the rule? for real not assumed like me :)

I used to like Collinsworth but he's dead to me after the Super Bowl...

He was probably at Gillette at the time he tweeted it. BB probably doesn't have anything wrong with it, it's true. Nothing wrong with facts.

Only the ones who were assigned bonuses by The Corporation to keep their "corporate champ," champion. I wonder who the NFL's corporate champ is, this year.

The Panthers, maybe?

It's too bad we're going to ruin their perfect season in the SB.

Ain't nothing finer, than 18-1 for Carolina.

Kraft going to create "OPIcontext.com."

I gave this a "winner" but I also laughed out loud.

I also think there is something here that needs to be highlighted.

Bruschi eluded to the Pats absolutely having a conversation with the league about this as it has gotten beyond ridiculous. Asking the league for specific examples and affirmation on what OPI is is required. Its also worth the exercise of showing all the film of Gronk being accosted would also drive home the point of a lack of fairness.

I won't hold my breath that the league will change its course.
