no not at all. online talk doesn't offend me. Why would it even? We all root for the same team.
I agree. But stick around and you'll see some all out bombs being thrown around sometimes. It's funny, unless you're caught in the crossfire.

Yeah we're massholes and passionate about our team. no suprise. haha.

the other guy said that it's tough cause it's like only being on your second day of training and your still learning the ropes. I'm just saying catching a punted football for a rookie WR is like a fast food employee changing a napkin dispenser on their second day. It's not that difficult and extended training doesn't apply.

I think the napkin dispenser analogy is a little off base. I would have went with the toothpick loading guy myself because that's more the equivalent of catching a football in inclement weather while eleven 240 lb dudes are sprinting full speed downfield hoping to knock the living crap out of you on your second day at work.

In fact I once fired a guy for loading the toothpicks into a dispenser backwards. That sucked because he had the potential to cook up some mean hashbrowns but you know, it is what it is at Denny's. :D

That's how mature discussions play out. Good job guys. We will know if bb cut him because of the punt by him coming back to the PS or not.

I imagine having you as a manager would be the equivalent of the eleven 240 lb dudes coming at you. :)

Thank you!!!!! Finally I don't have to hear his name on this forum anymore. People have been all over his jock the past few weeks.

He's the biggest reason we lost that game. Killed our momentum. Tired out our D. Without his drop we win the game and lock up homefield advantage.
Big play? Yes. Changed momentum? Yes, no doubt. The biggest reason they lost? Not by a long shot. That play happened with something like 14:26 on the clock and NE was still up two scores. That muff didn't magically put 14 points on the board for Denver. The refs did that all by themselves. Sorry, I agree that the Harper play was huge, but it's not "the biggest" reason they lost, from my view. There were a lot of questionable things that certainly contributed and at very key points in the game after the muff.

Why put an inexperienced kid in that Big Game, inclement weather situation to make that decision? I am sure BB is kicking himself in the ass right now over that coaching blunder. Team is up 14 points and getting the ball which would have put this one away and this one Fumble changed everything.
With that "logic" you don't put a rookie, UDFA at that, in to defend on the goal line stand that will decide the Super Bowl.

Do you?

On Monday, the club also took a closer look at free agent wide receiver/return specialist Damaris Johnson and running back Terrence Magee.

Johnson has played for the Eagles (2012-13) and Texans (2014). The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Johnson had 31 receptions last year with the Texans, playing in former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien's offense. He has both kickoff and punt return experience.

Magee (5-foot-9, 215 pounds) is an undrafted free agent out of LSU who has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens this season, splitting time between their practice squad and active roster (two games).

Johnson is interesting, good college production, 600yds in the pros, some experience in a similar system at Texans and He meets the smurf height requirement at 5'8" Of course...

Good point. The Pats have a slew of key contributors with (hopefully) non-IR injuries healing up that require roster spots, Amendola, Edelman, Gronk, Williams, Hightower, Collins, Coleman. The good (really, great) news is that all of them will hopefully be back. However, that means we need some temporary fill-ins at WR, TE, LB, and maybe CB for the next couple of weeks. I suspect that BB is looking for reliable fill-ins for the next few weeks until these key contributors heal up.
Those guys are all on the roster. No need to free roster slots for any of them.

As several members have already posted, he will most likely be re-signed to the practice squad.
Otherwise... He could be sent to... The Doghouse... I will NEVER go there...

This is akin to putting napkins in a napkin dispenser. How hard is that?
I guess you missed the fact that both he and Martin were practicing kicks before the game, Harper did the better of the two and Martin fumbled as reported by Ben Volin here...

Maybe Martin should be the next to go by your logic:rolleyes:

The kid made a mistake and got cut, give him a break.

Respect, but probably because were there really that many other guys on the team who would likely have done better? Chung, McCourty did it mostly in college. White is not any more experienced than Harper. I guess one could legitimately ask why not Martin, since he did it so much in Houston. But who knows? Maybe he is not 100 percent and only played last night because NE has nobody else to suit up at WR. Look, that play could have happened to someone who has returned 100 punts. That's just the type of play that happens in a football game sometimes. It was huge and swung momentum, but it was hardly the reason why NE lost the game. If the game at that point was one possession, then maybe I'd be more inclined to take up that argument. But it was a still a two score game with over 14 minutes left in the game. For those reasons alone I will NEVER concede that the muff was the "biggest" reason NE lost the game, nor will I question BB too critically. You've got to trust that guys will make the plays and understand that sometimes they don't and all the rationalizations in the world won't change that f-ed up things happen in a game sometimes, just like life.

I have no doubt Harper was cut in part because of last night. I just don't buy that it was the only factor. He made a huge mistake that may contribute to him possibly never playing in the league again (though he could very well end up back on someone's PS).

Another time and another place Harper would have ridden the pine to make a statement, and cut if he was outcompeted in camp. Belichick doesn't have that luxury here. WR spots are slim with all the injured but coming back players and there's no room to wait for a guy you can't immediately trust with the football.

I guess a lot of people didn't read this earlier:

Bill Belichick on D&H: There will be plays we see different from officials
One of the biggest momentum shifts in the game came early in the fourth quarter when undrafted rookie Chris Harper muffed a punt and the Broncos were able to take over and have all the momentum swing to their side.

“No, it was definitely catchable,” Belichick said. “Look, Chris has done a good job for us. He’s handled the ball in a lot of conditions here at practice that have been as bad, if not worse last week in the Buffalo game. He had a couple of tough catches where he had to run to get the ball on the sideline. It’s one of those plays where I’m sure he’d like to have back. There were plays I am sure every other player would like to have back somewhere along in the game. There are calls every coach would like to have another shot at, but that’s it.”
Seems more like a regular roster move than a cut due to the play.

Seems hard to conclude that BB cut him because of this one play, rather easier to conclude the opposite.

Having said that, I'm in the camp that it was the one play that changed the game, because EVERYONE expects the punt to fielded, and if there was any doubt, just let the damn thing bounce. The previous punts that were allowed to hit the ground took at best one short hop in the slush then stuck to the ground. Denver went from being stopped deep in their own territory to getting the ball in NE's red zone. Denver was handed a gift, and they knew it.

And of course catching the punt doesn't ice the game, because Brady could have thrown a pick-six on the very next play and we'd be at a very similar point just a few seconds later, but that's where the MOMENTUM changed.

Probably will go back to PS if he clears waivers?

Harper played a lot of snaps vs buffalo & last night. He didn't have a catch. He sucks. Face it harper fanboys.

He cant get open. He cant catch. He cant run pass routes. He's done. Kaput. Finito. Sayonora. Don't let the door hit ya in the arse....

So much for the Harper hype train. All we heard last week was 'he's going to be great. watch his college highlights'. Oh well, we always have a tendency to overhype our own players. James White doesn't look like a stud at this point either.
