Considering giving up on watching NFL games, ...

As bad as last night's game was, maybe it will open eyes to the Goodell/NFL bias against the Pats. They really want us to lose and it shows. Maybe those against us during deflate gate will come around now. People seem to think Pats nation are whiners but after last night maybe they will be on our side. It happens to all teams too, but more to us
I'm trying to come up a level here....

Not to try and sound like an seen-it-all-old-timer but I've been watching NFL games religiously for approx 30 years and from a product standpoint in the last 10 years or so it's lost a ton of entertainment value. Games are too long, the officiating has gotten progressively worse and the quality of play has also taken substantial hits.

Not enjoyable to just watch really

As bad as last night was, ref-wise, if only Harper doesn't drop that punt, I see 21-7 becoming 24-7 or 28-7 and Denver resorting the having to sling the ball all around the yard, unsuccessfully.

It hurts, as I was on the HAH-PAA binkey bandwagon, but boy did he let us down.

Once Panthers won and stayed undefeated Thurs., Goodell* wanted Pats to lose even more. RG wants Panthers to be Feel Good Story and knock Pats/Brady talk down from MVP and Cam would be front runner. Pats giving up lead keeping it close gave Refs total control of makin sure Pats would not advance to score or give Denver chances to advance and score as we ALL saw.
I never make excuses or use my Homer Card but THIS was an all out Ref Job to make life very easy for Denver to cash in.

I aint going to last too much longer, before deflategate a win was like hitting $250 on a scratch ticket and a loss was like getting another call from school to go get my kid cause they are pulled some a-hole move again. After PSIgate a win is about as exciting as finding a dollar under a couch cushion and yesterday i discovered a loss is about as much of a downer as going to get a bowl of ice cream that I wasnt even sure I wanted and finding out someone ate it first, just didn't care.
I dont see any way my "just dont give a ****" level of fandom will change unless scumdell and kraft both exit the nfl. Every game there's a little war inside my head, should I watch or should I go clean up that rust spot on my bumper or should I watch or should I go brush out the chimney. If yesterday was a 1:00 game the chimney would have won.

well while nothing is ever perfect or even fair what I have enjoyed over the last 15 years is fantastic to the 70's,80's and 90's. Ill take it. Pats are 10-1, Im ok with that.

Belli*Chick said it best - I don't find watching games enjoyable anymore. After every single successful play, I find I'm holding my breath looking for a flag that's going to take it back. After ever deep pass on our D, I'm anxiously awaiting the DPI flag to be thrown. I used to think it was just bad officiating, but after last night, and yesterdays other games that I'm reading about, I'm really beginning to suspect otherwise.

does this happen before or after you hold your breath to see who was injured on the play?

Abso-friggin'-lutely.

It's like waiting while holding your breath for the playoffs to start. That's like when the season starts for us now. Makes the regular season total torture, just waiting for the injuries.

You guys should put your money where your mouth is. I turned the game off immediately following the OPI on Gronk. I'm glad I did too. This sport is simply getting to the point where it's not fun for me to follow anymore.

Don't give up on football yet. The best scene ever will be when Brady is handed the SB trophy this year, turns around and punches Roger in the face. (one can dream...)

I love watching sports, but it's not fun if I despise the league. The NBA lost me with Kings/Lakers (I was living in CA and became a Kings fan). Now the NFL is dangerously close with this crap. I have a high tolerance though because it's the only team I care about.

Would everybody be feeling this way if the Pats won last night?

-An emphasis to make the game high scoring (the stats since 2011+ are absurd)
-Catering to fantasy football players instead of true enthusiasts of the game
-Incompetent officiating
-More games in London + a possible TEAM in London (Logistical nightmare)
-Expansion to seven (possibly EIGHT) playoff teams per conference
-Owners still wanting an 18 game regular season
etc, etc.

The NFL product is just going to get worse, sadly.

Goodell is a buffoon but ultimately just a figurehead for the greedy owners who are the true root of the declining product.

The officiating was piss poor but that's become the norm. No use crying over it. If you want to watch you must expect it and accept it.
The way I see it the dropped punt was the real back breaker.

In their defense, I read plenty of unhappy posts after the Bills game.

I agree the officiating this season has been particularly bad. But I liken it to some basketball games I played in as a kid when the officials are calling the game very one-sided. If you can win those games, then you beat the other team and all the assistance it received.

Belichick in his post-game comments points to what you can do, not what you cannot do. Crappy officiating has always been a variable in the game. You win games around that problem, and can never really fix it.

If I believed the fix was on (I don't, as that type of planning has too many moving parts for 32 teams. These idiots in the NFL front office couldn't even frame one team with a violation and get away cleanly) I wouldn't watch the games at all. The Pats are 10-1 despite this crap. You couldn't pry me from the television when the games are on.

How can you even ask that!? Of course I wouldn't... lol :p

But for real... there are a lot of reasons we lost that game last night, but the officiating certainly left a very, very bitter taste in a lot of peoples mouths.. and its not just butt-hurt patriots fans which is evident by the fact that tons of media heads, many of which have been ****ting all over the Pats this year, have been going on and on about what a botch job that game was.

Its all very telling... the NFL is just getting ****y and the entire world saw it last night.. even Pats haters are scratching their heads

This topic has been discussed before, and there are a lot of fans here who have expressed dissatisfaction, if not contempt with the NFL*, and many of us will be trying to break the habit and leave once BB and TFB are gone.

If the Pats had won the commentary wouldn't be as visceral, but this is hardly a new feeling being expressed here.

The Pats losing in prime time exposed an ongoing scandal of match fixing in the NFL (seriously, look at the traction it's getting online). If they won, in light of biased officiating clearly affecting the outcome of the game, a ****ing parade should have been organized for the team.

I went to work today without coming on here first thinking the same thing that I was going to quit after Tom and BB retire, so when I come on here after work and see other people thinking the same thing it's refreshing to hear.

I hate Goodell's NFL. I HATE IT!
