I wish there was an option to view the live All-22 or the wire cam from behind the quarterback where you can mute the broadcast and just listen to the crowd noise.

I don't know why we can't have a thread bashing collingsworth. It's a fan forum and some of us fans can't stand the guy. The other day there was 10 pages on Ray Lewis.
I hate collingsworth. That guy hasn't seen a call go against the pats that he can't rationalize. That call for defensive holding against Chung that negates the sack....yes, collingsworth sputtered a bit initially. A moment later, he said, well, Chung did hold him a little. Pure bs.
In fairness, the Ray Lewis thread didn't come on the eve of 'did we just lose Gronk for the rest of the season' or the fact that until just recently, we didn't know what was up with High. It also didn't come on the eve of a loss that for all we know could end up having seeding implications. Everyone is assuming the team will be 100 percent by playoffs and it doesn't matter where we have to play, when the reality is we just don't know any of that for sure yet. Home-field, which has been a big factor in every SB appearance we've had in the BB era, could end up being more important this season than any of the others because of all of these injuries.

I fully understand that this is a fan forum and I suppose one can make a thread on just about anything, but I guess I may be feeling the gravity of what's happening with the team a bit more than what Collinsworth may or may not have said or intended, things that don't matter after the game is over. I feel there have been times that Collinsworth has sided with the Patriots and he has said great things about them in just about every game I've watched him call, if not every one. I think he plays it down the middle very closely, but I'd be willing to concede that he slightly favors the side that dislikes NE a "smidge." But that's all you're coaxing out of me today.

I meant no harm to the OP. Just stating that I feel the thread only exists because we lost the game and some of us are a bit grumpy over it . . . not that anything is wrong with that. There are legit reasons from the game about why we should be a bit grumpy.

Costas and Dungy are worse.
Costas is a virtual pygmy who has no business commentating on football. Dungy offers little.

Between Collingsworth and Phil Simms it's tough to watch Pats games with the volume on.
Sims has become far more insufferable to me than Collinsworth, frankly.

I kind of agree. Not too mention that he has zero personality.

I'm kind of happy that Parcells treated him like dirt on the Giants.

You can have a thread bashing him, and others can come to the thread and say he is not so bad...

Al Michaels makes it all worth it. Best announcer in all of sports.

Collinsworth is really up and down, he was horrible in the Super Bowl but I thought he was good last night.

Complaining about the announcers? Come on. It's the lamest thing other fan bases do. Well, one of the lamest.
Collingsworth bugs the sh*t out of me even when he's not doing a Patriots game. The things he says are so insipid and obviously scripted by the league's PR people to pump up some player or owner.

By and large, he's a shill for the league. His long-winded filibuster on the unquestioned integrity of The Dope (aka Goodell) last season on the air was laughable. And that was before anyone ever heard of or cared about air pressure in footballs.

I hate 'em all. Every broadcaster dances around certain issues, avoids other issues. The telecasts are scripted, they have their agenda to feed America, they are afraid to have real opinions. If a call is ridiculous, use the word ridiculous....it's not hard.
But because the powerful NFL is the acting Big Brother, these tools play the part of corporate shill and these broadcasts are liking drinking O'Doule's......no substance.....what's the point.

Collinsworth is eh. He's no Al Michaels but he's at least not Phil ****ing Simms.

Maybe it's me but I remember Chris Collingsworth as a player for the Bengals and what I remember most about him was on every incomplete pass him constantly whining and looking to the refs for a PI call.

This came up in another thread but I don't remember which one. Here's the solution. Put the volume so low (for me it's about 6) that you can hear them talking but you can't actually hear what they're saying. You can still hear the crowd noise a little and you can hear all the calls by the ref. I only wish I had tried it during the last SB when Collinsworth spent the time during the two greatest SB comeback 4th quarter drives by talking about deflated footballs.

This is what I do. Plus Gamecast and, of course, the game threa---

fwiw, collingsworth >>>> simms
By far. I like Collinsworth. I hate Simms, not because he's a pats hater or anything like that(that's mostly made up in fans heads when it comes to commentators IMO), but because he sounds so freaking confused all the time. Like he has no idea where he is. He also misses things that happens on the field pretty often, like the spot of the ball.

And I said, look me in the eye, Tom, and tell me that no one in the organization could have possibly touched those balls. An overeager ball boy, an equipment manager.

Do you have difficulty distinguishing tone in speech? I can't think of any other explanation that could bring someone to such a conclusion.
