Worst Refereeing I have ever seen

Wrong.

See the NFL rulebook quote someone had in another thread. The refs did it completely by the book. A team gets one free extra "timeout" in that situation. And the rules say the clock runs if it was running before the "timeout". If it had happened again, then everything you said would have happened.

Yeah.. You're a little slow on the uptake there, chump. No one that I'd see had actually posted the rule until I did in the other thread.. It just took me a second to get back to here ..

I have a feeling that the worst is yet to come.

We knew going into the season that this league is corrupt. For f*ck sake, there's a decision from a NY federal court that confirms this.

I don't know. This whole debacle MIGHT be a blessing in disguise. There is now so much attention on this, with so many people agreeing that the calls against the Pats were really that bad, that the NFL needs to be more careful about this going forward.

Where they really screwed up and no one noticed is that a good 15-20 seconds ticked off after the play was over before they called the injury time out. Should have been called much sooner than that.

I didn't think it was quite as bad as the Ravens replacement ref game, but I'd also like to think that the "real" refs are held to a much higher standard.

Just as bad. They were creating a feel good storyline about Torrey Smith's dead brother looking down on him from the heavens and inspiring him to win the game against the mighty Patriots. It took a few phantom PI calls and a missed FG, that the refs claimed was "good" for the Ravens to pull it off.

The replacement refs did exactly what the regular refs would've done anyway.

Well, we now have 9 OPI's versus a league average of 2.22. (Washington is next with 5).

What aggravating is that the announcers are referring to it as something that the Pats are known for.

They are slapping the label on the Pats although many other teams use the same tactic.

No, there have been at least a couple games this year that the refs were worse against us. I remember a couple weeks ago Butler getting a key DPI when he didn't even touch the WR! Like, he was well over a foot from the WR. There's a very obvious pattern of biased officiating against the Pats this year. I wish one of our intrepid Boston reporters would dig into it.

Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean the league isn't out to get us.

The refs got it right, moving the play clock back to 40 seconds But that is the only things they got right. By rule, they should have been penalized a 5 yard penalty and the clock should have started on the snap, not with the refs winding it..

EDIT: Rule 4, Section 5, Article 4 doesn't discriminate between the offense and defense here the way I thought it did..

So the refs actually got it right.. However, they should have made sure to tell BB that..
but but...the NFL offices called from NY and verified what happened

you dont say....you dont mean....they called right away and lied about the process? that it was handled correctly when in fact it wasnt?

unimaginable!!!

Why? Who's going to give a sh*t if the Patriots and their fans get screwed over? Clearly Kraft doesn't.

Unfortunately it only matters in a couple key games. So they get away with it.

Tony Corrente was also given this year's Patriots-Colts game and our January 19, 2014 playoff loss in Denver.

See a pattern?

Corrente also called 15 penalties on us last year in Minnesota.

It does but the bigger the stage the harder it is to keep doing when even the haters saying they were horrible calls. They haven't stopped us, we have one loss, we're one win away from the playoffs. The best they can do right now is stop us having a first round bye for that we still need to lose two games and Denver and cinci to win all of theirs.

Worst called game I have ever seen by far. I thought the fix could not get worse then the steelers Seattle Super Bowl but I was wrong. That OPI on Gronk was a joke, nobody BUT GRONK gets that call you see way worse pushing off 20 times a game with no call. The call on Chung was a damn tragedy. He had a finger on him 30 yards away from the play for half a heartbeat and ONLY cuz the damn receiver ran into him. It affected the play not one god damn iota! How the %#*^ does Ebner emerge from the pile with the ball and they still rule Denver ball? I could go on but my blood pressure needs to go down if I am going to get any sleep tonight. I was not a believer in some grand conspiracy theory just that refs are human and make bad calls all the time. I can deal with a tightly called game if it is tightly called fairly to both sides. The non call on lefall was just as bad. It's the obvious one sided nature of the ticky tack horseshit that gives me serious questions into who paid of the "referees" of tonight's "contest". Joker used to be the crazy uncle you just shook your head and laughed at now he's the sane one who has been right all along. I need a drink. All of that said I could not be more proud of the team. There is NO surrender, NO giving up, NO lack of fight and drive in them at all. Best damn team in the league by a country mile and clutch as hell. Taking the donkeys, the "refs", and the football injury gods to OT is one hell of an accomplishment

Sometimes the people who are perceived to be the most crazy (as you point out, our resident @Joker), are the ones most free from the tyranny of conformity and can see what is actually happening. Almost everything the man has said, has some grounding in truth. That's why I respect @Joker. He calls it as it is, not as we want it to be.

Oh I respect joker always have just in that crazy uncle you love anyway kinda way. I definetly admire the depths he is willing to go to prove his point. The sad part is he has been right all along. I used to love football the high of 2001 will never be matched. Now despite the hours of passion I have poured into the sport the league is killing my enjoyment. A loss never used to feel rigged. I always believed in fair play and that a L was earned as much as a W. After tonight's debacle I can no longer honestly say I feel that way and it breaks my heart.

You know it's bad when NFL shill Cris Collinsworth is speechless about some of the calls.
I don't know, Collinsworth goes off the script more than most guys (especially Phil Simms) and criticizes the refs, play calls, etc. He could have stepped it up more here and that was upsetting. He at least acknowledged the calls could have gone either way but the officiating was so one-sided. C'mon

I never usually like to blame the refs but I've been watching this crazy game now for over 20 years and I pay attention to what is and isn't a penalty. I'm not afraid to admit when we screw up.

This is not one of those times.

The refs were awful and I don't think anybody can dispute this.

Because Denver recovered it. Watch the replay. There's a lot to complain about but that play isn't one of them.
If he recovered it he would have emerged from the pile with the ball. He was the first to fall on it but I saw no clear proof he ever had possession before the camera got blocked by the pile. Thus the play should not have been dead and you know the proof you need is who has it when it's over. I think Ebner did a great job taking the ball away from the Denver player. It is not like in the end zone where the second you have possession over the line the play is over. At no point did I see clear possession and the player down
