Worst Refereeing I have ever seen

Bizzaro clock

What happened?

The Bronco player was injured stopping the game clock so I thought. The Ref told them to add time to the game clock making it 40 seconds because Denver had no timeouts to take away. Collinsworth even commented on this protocol.

Next thing you realize is that there is only 10 seconds on the game clock remaining.

3 weeks in a row the refs have been an absolute joke.

I don't get it, it's like the refs went on strike and didn't tell anyone.

The refs definitely handed the Broncos the game, but honestly it's a league wide problem and not some conspiracy. All year round the referees have handed teams wins and the calls have definitely been terrible week in and week out all over the league.
Just today, during the Cards-SF game announcers were left speechless. It is what it is.

Agreed. Officiating has been atrocious this year. I've seen at least two or three other games that were as bad as tonight. IMO the rulebook has become too complicated. I think the refs are having to make too many determinations in a split second.

The refs got it right, moving the play clock back to 40 seconds But that is the only things they got right. By rule, they should have been penalized a 5 yard penalty and the clock should have started on the snap, not with the refs winding it..

EDIT: Rule 4, Section 5, Article 4 doesn't discriminate between the offense and defense here the way I thought it did..

So the refs actually got it right.. However, they should have made sure to tell BB that..

Well, we now have 9 OPI's versus a league average of 2.22. (Washington is next with 5).

The Ben Dreith Raiders playoff game was far worse than tonight...if there was the tech we have today, Dreith would still be in prison.

The hold call on the bomb to Keshawn Martin was suck ****ing garbage.

On Jackson. Worst call. The type of play every OL makes from Pop Warner on up.

I am tired of the NFL being destroyed by the refs. The league must fix this problem. Put a full time paid refs in the booth to review each call in every game on the spot.

Was it the refs or the league though? How could they find so many calls on the Pats but none on the Broncos? Some pretty key plays on both offense and defense killed by the refs in that 4th quarter?

Was Roger Goodell operating the clock?

Both IMO

Wrong.

See the NFL rulebook quote someone had in another thread. The refs did it completely by the book. A team gets one free extra "timeout" in that situation. And the rules say the clock runs if it was running before the "timeout". If it had happened again, then everything you said would have happened.
