The Practice Squad And Further Transactions

I'd like to see RB Joey Iosefa on the roster (if he's learned the playbook). The guy is a beast, great blocker (blitz pickup as well as blocking in general) can catch the ball very well, and though a power back, he's got some shiftiness to him as well. Very tough on the goal line.

With the promotion of Asante Cleveland and Darius Fleming, that completes the turnover of the practice squad. They were the last two remaining from the opening weekend.

Cleveland presumably plays over Williams, who is injured.
Fleming replaces Eric Martin. Freeney and Mayo will likely get time with the defense, but Fleming might get in on special teams.

Does he have PS eligibility?
don't think so

He played in 10 games for SFO in 2013,

and 9 or more games on the game day roster disqualifies you

Article 33: The Practice Squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). An otherwise eligible player may be a Practice Squad player for a third season only if the Club by which he is employed that season has at least 53 players on its Active/Inactive List during the entire period of his employment

Didn't they change the rule to allow any amount of games in the accrued seasons? That's how we had guys like Vellano on the PS.

FYI - status of the original practice squad:

WR Kenbrell Thompkins - released, with gnashing of teeth
WR Nathan Palmer - released
TE Asante Cleveland - Roster
OL Blaine Clausell - hung around, eventually released
OT Cameron Fleming - Roster, started
DT Jimmy Staten - released (replaced by Eric Martin, who appeared on the roster)
LB Darius Fleming - Roster
LB Alex Singleton - released (replaced by Chris Barker, who appeared on the Roster)
DB Dax Swanson - released
DB Brandon King - Roster, gunner

Other promoted players include Khyri Thornton, Chris Harper.
Eight practice squad players have made the roster.

Wow, I forgot we even gave Dax a few days on the PS this year. Still don't get why he wasn't kept around.

That's pretty impressive, Urgent. Looks like we built a good practice squad. We've needed their depth throughout the season, and for the most part players have stepped up. They might not be stars, but they've been serviceable. Pretty good teambuilding.

They lose a gap-penetrating pass-rushing DT and replace him with…a short blob. Brilliant.

C'mon now...

Are you assuming that there are gap-penetrating players available?

Come on.. Don't you know that Captain stone has 10 SB rings and knows more about personnel than any other person in the history of the game... Questioning him is tantamount to showing ignorance.. (sic)

Also laughable if he thinks Kitchen is Easley's direct replacement. They will use a combination of Hicks and Sheard. Kitchen will slot into that "depending on the game plan" active/inactive spot that Siliga was in.

Thats how I am seeing it as well.

Mostly Sheard, Hicks and maybe a little Grissom chewing up Easy's snaps with Seal and Kitchen combining to lighten the pure run-stopping load that Hicks had when Easy was playing
