It's a long 28 hours before the start of the game. All the discussions of what to expect have been done and over done. So rather than worry about how the Pats will survive without Lewis, Edelman, Amendola, Collins, and how the OL will survive the Denver defense, how about sitting back and watching someone's documentary on Tom Brady and what he's accomplished for the next half hour.

Enjoy.....I know I did.

WTF does poor build even mean? They make it sound like he has a deficiency.

Video gave me goosebumps; thanks for sharing.

Question for you folks though: I was only 9 when Brady was drafted and didn't really care much about the strategic part of football at the time, just wanted to see the Patriots win; what was your guys' reaction when you saw that the Pats had drafted a QB from Michigan that was benched?

I was completely clueless since I don't follow college football.

HOWEVAH! When I saw the kid in his 2nd summer camp 2001 Smithfield he impressed me greatly. I saw him outplay Drew that summer. No doubt in my mind.

Thanks for sharing that. Made a jammy-day all the better!

Back in 2000 when they drafted him, the Pats were coming off an 8-8 year with a team that had some decent starters, but no depth and deep in cap hell. BB spent that season clearing out the deadwood and trying to get the cap back in working order.

As for our expectations, I think none of us were shocked they drafted him. A decent prospect with expectations to either fight for the #3 job or be camp fodder. IIRC his acquisition was pretty much met with a big snooze. However what WAS a surprise was when they kept all 4 QB's on the roster the entire year. Back in those days almost all teams kept 3 QB's on the roster. But FOUR? That was almost unheard of.

When it became apparent that season was a dumpster fire, there were few complaints, it just was what it was. In 2001 people who went to Smithfield came back with some nice things to say about him, but it was still a bit of surprise when he beat out the Huard and Bishop was sent packing. And the rest, as they say, was history. ;)

Yeah, I didn't really take huge notice, except for the 4 QB thing. But also remember I wasn't impressed at all with Huard or Bishop

I remember, even after winning the SB, there were people saying we should stick with Bledsoe, like Brady was a flash in the pan or somesuch.

I remember Dale and Eddy Andelman interviewed him on their show about noon and I thought he was impressive, I assumed he would be their 3rd or backup at best since we had Drew. Never saw GOAT coming down the pike but as you hear stories from former players back then there were some signs he was special.

Thanks for the replies guys was always curious what was the adult fan base mindset about the GOAT back then. Did some of you still wanted Bledsoe at QB when he came back from injury in that 2001 season?

There weren't many people who wanted Bledsoe back under center. The Pats were considered a bottom-5 team in terms of talent before the year, and were 0-2 under Bledsoe. You'd have to be insane not to recognize that Brady was a major upgrade from Drew. My concern was that Bill wouldn't have the guts to keep the big $ QB on the bench. I didn't know Bill that well obviously. If someone told you that the Pats would win the SB before the season, you'd call them crazy. If they said they'd win it without Bledsoe or Glenn, you'd have them committed. No documentary or retrospective will ever do justice to how magical that season was. Imagine the Jaguars winning the SB this year. That's what it was like.

I just ran into a brick wall.

I was one of them, huge Bledsoe fan. Didn't think much of Brady. Glad I was wrong.

I'll fess up. When Brady was drafted I told my wife the new Coach is a dumb ass. Waisted a pick on a QB when we had Bledsoe.

I remember the conventional wisdom was Drew was great and just needed an offensive line. Was amazing how once Brady came in the offensive line seemed fine.

During the 2001 preseason, there was a game where Drew could't get anything done. Might have got one first down. They put Brady in and he marched the team down for a TD. They put Drew back in and again nothing. It was at that point there that I started to seriously wonder if he might get the nod during the regular season if Drew continued to struggle.

Not to jump on Drew. Before Drew came we couldn't sell out a home game. And he was one of the best QB's of the 90's. But he needed everything to be perfect around him to get it done. And Brady just won with whoever you put around him.

At what point did people start seeing TFB as the best in the league?

I may be wrong but I seem to remember he wasn't very good once it got cold, Drew that is.

I have some hot videos on the 2014 season. If you want them let me know via pm. If I post them here, the NFL will go Nagasaki on this forum. Behind the scenes stuff, mic'ed up stuff that goes beyond 3 games to glory.

I don't remember but probably after the 3rd SB ring. And even then most people probably thought Peyton was the best.

Yes.
Two of those people were Shaughnessy and Borges.
