Jamie Collins at Practice Friday, but still doubtful for Denver game

I heard on the radio this morning that another rumor going around the media about Collins is that he had the shingles. That makes more sense for him to miss a quarter of the season than the stomach flu.

Don't kill the messenger. I am just reporting what I heard on the radio.

I'm still totally confused why it is important to speculate about this in any way.

Because it is bizarre for a player to miss a quarter of the season with an illness.

But we have a good impression of the symptoms that kept him out and he's now back with the team. Who cares what the specifics are?

"The media" being radio guys that go simple on rumors? Like the previous MRSA rumors you posted about?

Would shingles make him loose a lot of weight and not being able to practise? Because that's a problem that we heard from the pretty reliable Pats reporters.

They're 10-0, and all games are not of the same importance. If the AFCCG is in Denver instead of Foxboro because of a couple plays in a November game, that will be bad. That's why I would play Collins. You disagree, that's fine.

If they Patriots lose, they're still a game clear in the conference. Denver and Cincinnati both, would still have to run the table - and hope the Patriots lose one of the final five games they'll be big favorites in.

According to NFL transaction wire, Patriots have cut S Dewey McDonald & promoted TE Asante Cleveland and LB Darius Fleming to 53-man roster.

Darius Fleming's promotion adds LB depth & could foreshadow that Jamie Collins won't play vs. Denver. Collins is officially doubtful.
Hoping we do not lean on Freeny quite so much.

It could be a lot worse. It could be Monty Beisel or Eric Alexander.

I don't get people banging on Freeny as much as they are. He's not Jamie Collins. Nobody is. In terms of a backup linebacker, he's done a pretty solid job, especially considering Jeff Bostic needs a damned GPS when he's out there.

Anyone have an idea on why the switch between Eric Martin and Fleming other than Darius looks better in practice?

I never liked Fleming on defense. Don't remember seeing much of Martin.

Amendola, Collins, Williams, Coleman, and Edelman have all been officially ruled out.

Perfect. The mediots and the Broncos will be quite confident. They won't even see...

It's going to be difficult for them both to run the table since they play one another on December 28.

Agreed. I don't give a #### what he had, it's none of my business and he's entitled to his privacy. The only thing that matters to me is he's back practicing. This obsessive need to know and speculate about what it was reminds me of the old ladies in my neighborhood growing up who used to whisper about why they didn't see Mr. Wilson leave for work each morning for a period of time. ************ get a freaking life.

Now think about what a boost this team gets when those guys get back...

Assumimg we don't lose more guys over the next 5 weeks. No time to heal and return if injured in the last 5 weeks.

But if it was an injury and we had the symptoms we over analyze, dissect, introduce rumors, and bring our own experiences into the discussion. Why is an illness any different?

Besides I am reporting rumors and speculation from the media which makes it post worthy.
