Tony Corrente will work as referee for Patriots-Broncos

if memory serves me correctly, Corrente's crew likes to throw a lot of flags. there were a total of 19 penalties his crew called in the pats-colts game a few weeks ago. in one sense this is good because they are going to flag the denver DBs for clutching and impeding Gronk. but i expect a choppy game with a lot of stoppages.

After Monday night's game, I would welcome even Ed Houchuli over Gene Steratore. Corrente can't be as bad.

More likely a bunch of OPI calls on us too :(

Is it just me or do a lot of refs have Italian names?

Union controlled, decent money, only have to work one day a week, the head organization is controlled by a small group of wealthy corrupt "business men" and are led by an even more corrupt "commissioner", and the job gives one the ability to influence billions of dollars in legal and illegal gambling...hmmm....

Corrente is AWFUL, although it could have been worse (Morelli, Blakeman, Booger)

Are there any refs that aren't awful though? Seems like anymore we have to measure levels of awfulness.

vinovich is probably my favorite. pats always win when he refs, and the broncos always lose.

Who were those refs who "fist bumped" each other after a Denver TD last year?

It's just a coincidence. Nothing stopping other ethnic groups from playing pickup basketball with Jets players at Rutgers.

So, what youse trying to say?

Yes, someone should develop a ranking on which we can all vote. The "winner" will receive the "Ben Dreith Memorial Trophy for Officiating Incompetence." Maybe we could call it the "Benny."
