Bob Ryan: "Football gods won't let NE go undefeated"

Perhaps that was just a typo and he meant the football ODDS won't let them go undefeated. Not sure about the gods, but the odds are definitely NOT in our favor. I'm not even referring to the level of our competition but just due to some night's (days) things just go right for the other teams. Quite frankly it's amazing that they have gone 10-0 to this point, but there' the crazy part..........to go undefeated they still have 9 more to go. That's right, it feels like they are in the home stretch but to go undefeated we are only a little over halfway through. It would be great, but I think the odds catch up to us and we lose one, BUT it better be in the regular season.

Not sure what his reasoning is and I'm not curious enough to sit through a video to find out.

But ... If there really are "football gods" — and the Colts' last Super Bowl choke after intentionally avoiding an unbeaten season tells me there might be — they know that the Patriots approach the game the right way. They also know that Roger Goodell's NFL is an insult to The Game.

I stopped believing in football gods after the 2012 season.

Unless your name is Cam Newton and then the gods are on your side.

Bob Ryan trying to shove his football religion down our throats by briefly mentioning it. My gawd.

An undefeated Patriots team would be a nightmare for a lot of people. Any discussion about the greatest team, coach, or QB would become about who is #2. In addition, you would have someone like Blount, Edelman, Hightower or Chung playing the Mercury Morris role for the next 40 years, gloating annually when the last undefeated team loses. No wonder people like Ryan are hoping it doesn't happen.

Undefeated or not, a 5th Superbowl would cement it.

He was actually a very talented sportswriter who wrote great articles covering the Celtics in the 80's. He's now that creepy looking old guy on ESPN who looks like he drinks Irish whiskey for breakfast.

Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it.

I remember in 2007 when the 4-12 Ravens who we would never have considered a threat nearly knocked us off and the Eagles gave us a tough time as well. IIRC, they were lousy as well. So even if the schedule looks easy, it often is not. I think there could be plenty of tough games ahead, and with our injuries, I'll be happy to just come through with a bye, HFA and no more injuries.

If there are Football Gods then they most certainly WILL go undefeated

But if they lose I expect a long awaited chorus of "That's Karma for Cheating" from the Haters after going so long without a loss

Um - attention Haters - that "karma" has resulted in 4 Lombardis among other things - if that's bad karma, I'd like some more. And by the way, what the hell did a team like the Jets do to earn THAT bad karma???

It has to be murder near as I can tell. Who's buried underneath the Meadowlands???

Yeah if "karma" were a thing for our "cheating" (by playing in cold weather)....then shouldn't we have lost last year?

The karma thing always cracks me up.
