Belichick Breakdown: Top Plays from Week 11

BB talks about differences in punt vs kickoffs coverage plus 3 3d down stops.

Of note (for the multiple discussions about non-calls on Jills): go to 4:00, BB going passive-agressive on the Refs? "Mulligan wrestles him (Chandler J) to the ground. We've seen that before." :)

If you look around some of the defensive looks, watch Bulter's coverage on Watkins in some of the 22s. It is amazing.

This is Patriot's own studio production. BB talks about whatever he wants to talk about and the host is just there to nod his head and occasionally open his mouth and say "you're right, well done".

I think they've gotten to the point that the format suits BB. With this being put on by the Patriots, and with the host sort of being one of his former players,* it should be possible for things to work out that way, and I think by this season they finally have. Nonsense like the opening arrival and handshake have been deleted from the format.

*I think BB was DC when Zolak was a backup QB for the Patriots.

Zolak's role is in part to dumb things down for the audience, and he's well-suited for that. :) My guess is that BB feeds him the general points in pre-production, but that the specific lines are of Zolak's own devising.

Other weeks Zolak has sounded a bit smarter, actually, and BB's respect for Zolak has sounded more sincere, e.g. in talking about how a QB reacts to an annoying pass rush.

What I would give to be where Zolak is for several hours just learning at the feet of the master. To get real break downs and find out exactly why things work and why they don't being able to ask why this was called or why they tried that. Wish there was more of this kind of stuff instead of "heated Gatorade patriots accused of cheating AGAIN!" That sells. Says something about our society unfortunetly.

I think Zolak does a great job on those segments and I can't stand him as announcer or his twitties.

I actually like him as an announcer during the games but you've got a point about Twitter.

To be honest, I don't get the feed here in NC and was going to explain, but didn't. all I hear is clips of him screaming stupid stuff like pony's and unicorns, so my bad.

His twitter feed is 3rd grade level.

First one of these segments I recall where no plays by the offense are discussed.

All special teams and defense here - I think that says something.

Yeah, better to say nothing than give donkeys one piece of free intel.

And/Or, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

Belichik always shows so much respect for players and speaks plainly, but sometimes when those players are in the media there's a conflict of interest. In most cases his disdain for the media overrides his respect for players and he shuts down.

Fortunately for Zolak, being both a player and a Pom Pom waver in the guise of a media person, Belichik can keep his guard down and not worry about a thing.

Zolak buys the Pats Kool Aid in 5 gallon containers, so BB never has to worry about him as a media adversary, but that is BB's media forte explaining a complicated game to the masses.....

What Zolak needs to do is avoid those sophomoric moments and focus on his areas of strength... his knowledge of the game, I enjoy listening to him on the talk shows, but he goes off the rails easily.. then it is time to switch. For some reason intelligence is not a value for sports talk.. sensationalism is.

Interesting that in this video of "plays of the week" that it was about equal between ST's and Defense, the attention to detail for those aspects of the game.. his heaping of praise among a lot of these guys we seldom hear about must reap huge rewards for this team.
