Mayo & Freeny: playing time

Personally, I would love to have Mayo back next Year if we could get'm for say $1,500,000 a Year plus juicy Playing Time Incentives for a 2 or 3 Year Contract: 2015 is what I call a Recovery Year for Mayo, and the Patriots are being really, really smart about his Playing Time, letting him Take It Through The Gears.

Next Year, I expect him to be back to Full Form.

He'll only be 30, after all.

I say that his Passing Defense and indeed his entire Game will return to Form, having had Time enough to fully recover from his past Injuries...and that we will nevertheless be able to get him back, with all his Wisdom, Leadership, and Pro Bowl level of Play, at an incredibly low Price.

Mayo was a perennial pro-bowl 3 down linebacker his entire career. When you get the tendons in your knee shredded, it tends to slow you down for awhile

Well said, Sir: For awhile.

Give the man enough Time ~ 18 months, generally ~ and if his Injuries all heal correctly, there is every reason in the World to hope for a 30 Year old Mayo to return to All Pro Caliber Form.

Mayo's only played in about 25% of defensive snaps all year. Monday night was no exception.

This will be his last season here, and I think he would have been let go last offseason if not for his injury. His role has been diminishing since Collins emerged in late 2013.

I don't think that is accurate.

In the 6 games before his 2014 injury, Mayo averaged 56 snaps a game. That is full time.

Mayo isn't playing because he is not playing like pre-injury Mayo.

Disagree. Mayo's future here depends on what type of deal he is willing to take to stay.

Positive steps Sunday, but baby steps. Mayo is on a long and slow road to recovery. I am hoping to see Collins at practice today as it has been painful to watch Freeny every week.

Mayo lost his job here to players who are Bigger and Better than him. Make no mistake about it he's a starter in this league and would settle for no less next year on his next team.

Freeny has been the 3rd LB on the depth chart at worst all season. Why? I don't know. He doesn't look nearly as bad as he did in the preseason but I still don't get why he's basically been a borderline starter all year.
