OT: Manziel demoted from starter to 3rd string QB

Another year, another train wreck in Cleveland. Sigh.

Manziel was my 2nd overall rated player in the draft, right below Donald at #1. I will never let myself live that down.

I thought he had "it" the way Butler does. But it really isn't a chip on his shoulder, he just doesn't give a damn.

I'd still take him in 2016 or 2017 Pats training camp, whenever his full downfall occurs. He's only 22.

The most exciting college player I've ever watched. What a waste.

He's never gonna change. He was a spoiled brat in college. He will never survive our program.

Oooooh. Bad bad boy. How we have fallen as a society. Didn't Wells pitch a perfect game hammered? Michael Irvin was into powder, no? How about the guy who pitched a game on LSD? I can list many many more.

Manziel in the right system can play. That whole team is dysfunctional.

"How we have fallen as a society" for treating alcoholism as a disease to be treated rather than something to be celebrated? Have you ever known an alcoholic?

Mr. Manziel, meet Mr. Mallett.

Johnny's just drinking water now...see for yourself...

I never saw anyone who had manziel ranked that high

McCown x Schaub may present a better game in terms of QB play than what we are being forced to watch in this season

Well, Manziel, RG3, all making a strong push to get the Bust trophy, and even recent high draft picks that are actually playing like Bortles, Tanehill, are showing they don't have whats necessary to be an above average QB in this league.

I wonder if the NFL will eventually revert from pass happy league to the old NFL with a strong rushing game because the QB's can't carry a team. That's bad for business, I understand why the NFL are pushing the envelope favoring QB's and WR's, because for the casual fan and for the new audience they are trying to reach a pass play and a high scoring game are much more interesting than a 17-13 defense prevailing ugly game. It's like in baseball, people wanna see home runs and doubles all over the place, not a 3x2 small ball game with the game winning run coming in the 9th after a wild pitch. I once went to a Phillies @ Mets game in NY with a bunch of students from other countries, that game was ugly, 1 x 0 Mets, almost a no hitter, the only hit by the Phillies was made by their pitcher Cole Hamels. I can guarantee that people will never watch a baseball game again.

Right, they'll revert back to watching 1-0 soccer.

Imagine if Mickey Mantle played today? He would never see the field!

Look if I was young, rich, and single, Austin, Texas is exactly where I would spend my free time. He didn't kill anybody, didn't even break a law. They should still play him, because they have to figure out if they need another QB ( they do, he is too small, and obviously too dumb to be a franchise QB). But letting the media make that decision for you is why you are the Cleveland Browns.

You may have forgotten that he recently, allegedly, jammed his girlfriend's head against a car window during a domestic dispute.

Pettine's the one who put his ass on the bench, which is the same thing BB would have done.

How do you know they are letting the media make that decision for them? If Manziel played as well as Mantle did then no one would give a **** what he is on. Clearly the Browns feel that lifestyle is detracting from his ability to perform on the field, and I don't find fault in that assessment. I suspect that he made assurances that he wasn't able to keep through a single bye week. I also suspect that they've already figured out that they need another QB.

At first thought I think why would they bench him for holding a bottle of champagne. It seems over the top, but then I just think Manziel is stupid, it was clear his head coach did not want to have him as a starter and was looking for an opportunity to remove him, Manziel gave him the video to do that.
Not just that. The guy was also ripping bangers in a Vegas bathroom as well.

The kid was just partying. Pettine has continuously and openly question Manziel's ability. Their game vs the Bengals for example, Manziel was moving out of the pocket and making plays, they interview Pettine at halftime and all he says is that he would like to have Manziel make plays from the pocket. And Manziel went to **** in the second half.
I know Manziel's decision making is foobar but the Browns did not have the setup for someone like him.
Disclaimer:1. I am an Aggie whose time overlapped Manziel's college career. 2. I have disliked Pettine ever since he weighed into Deflategate.
Clarification over.

With the way their defense is playing i'm not sure why he is still their coach. My guess is they want that #1 pick
