Danny Amendola Injury Watch 2015

Perhaps this was mentioned already, but did anyone else find it surprising that Brady quickly ran over to Dobson after he went down?

yeah i think this is correct, but it is very strange. He doesn't appear to be injured when he gets up to celebrate, but on the touchdown run, you can see him limping very clearly. He is on the left side of the formation

good catch. you can see him hop and then grab at his knee. at the top of screen:

If we're hanging our hopes on Keshawn Martin playing, it's going to be a incumbent on the D to hold Denver to 14 points. I can't see the Pats offense as currently constituted - No Edelman, no Lewis, no Amendola (spare me - he ain't playing), no Dobson doing much.

Denver's giving up 89 rushing per game at home, so we're likely to see more of Blount into the line on first down with lots of 2nd & 8s and 2nd &9s to come. I don't have the #s in front of me, but since Dion Lewis went down it seems the Pats are facing alot more 3d & 6+ plays on third down.

Last 2 games vs NYG & Buffalo it seems like the Pats were always facing 3d and 7. I remember the '13 AFC title game in Denver, and I'm sure Sunday night's game will be similar, at least for the Patriots on offense. That game featured a ton of Blount & Ridley runs for not much, and an offense with Edelman, Collie, Dobson, Vereen, and Hoomanawanui...Anyone think the offense heading into Sunday night is better equipped than the 2013 offense? We're going to be looking at a offensive receiving corps of Brandon LaFell, Chris Harper, Scott Chandler, Rob Gronkowski....:( Denver will be able to neutralize 87 like Buffalo did (in part because he has to stay in & block more) so I think we're going to see even more of Brady throwing it into the turf on third down.

My hope is they can win some games 13-10 or 10-7 because even if Brady is the greatest of all time, his effectiveness is severely limited by the talent surrounding him. I simply cannot see this team scoring a ton of points even against Philadelphia. Fingers crossed they can secure a bye (perhaps the #1 seed) and then get Edelman & Amendola back 100% for the playoffs....

Ummm...this offense with Lafell and Gronk alone is much better. If Amendola can go, it's not even a question. Harper had a spectacular catch and one that a so so receiver does not make.

I get tired of seeing posts like this. It's like Gronk doesn't even exist. And Lafell is chump change. Brady alone makes receivers better so yeah I actually expect Harper and Martin to contribute quite a bit. I'm usually on the pessimistic side, but in this case, with this argument, what the Pats have now is much better than the entire receiving corps they did in '13.

There is little sense in trying to reason with someone who has gone full-blown Chicken Little.

Be that as it may, Gronk was uncharacteristically invisible in the passing game, against a defensive scheme by Ryan designed to flood the short to intermediate with 8 defenders in zone.

I expect the Patriots passing game to rebound a bit as long as the offensive line improves, even without Amendola and Dobson.

I doubt Wade Phillips, of all people, will alter his system to what Ryan showed last night for next Sunday night.

The same it true of the homer side of the equation.

Quite right, Deus!

Does this mean still out for Denver? Still good news that he won't be out a long time

I would guess with the short turnaround, Denver is out. Stranger things have happened, but I'm putting my hopes on a healthy Martin now.

Possibly. All depends on the treatment. Play it safe.

That struck me too. Not that you wouldn't expect him to care about all his teammates, but I did notice that.

I like it

They said his availability will be judges as they ramp up his activity during the week.

Curran:
His availability for the game Sunday in Denver will be determined by how he responds to treatment and an increase in work load as the week progresses.

My guess and this is just going off how the guy played with his muscle torn off his groin for a whole season he probably plays.

If Amendola could play that would be huge. Lafell, Martin, Amendola would be a solid WR group to go along with Gronk.

So, can we start the 'Amendola Injury Watch, Week 12' thread now or do we need to wait until he's declared active?
