Ray Lewis: I'd take Rex Ryan all day over Bill Belichick

Yes

Completely irrelevant

You should have listened to what Lewis said before posting.
I was talking to you. You continue to argue that Rex is a great coach.

Jesus, I can't believe I got sucked into this again. It's like a Cult of Rex.

I change my mind. Rex is a HOF coach.

So what is ESPN up to keeping this guy on the airwaves? Attract the rubber-necking crowd that can't avoid staring at a train wreck? Fill the linguistically challenged void Emmitt Smith left behind after his departure?
At some point even ESPN will recognize the cruelty of the Ray Lewis On-Air experiment....right? Is this ESPN's way of showcasing the damage caused by head trauma?
Who has the guts to fire this guy? And will that person be looking over his shoulder the rest of his life?

OK, perception of Ryan and Sanchez during the Jet years is never going to be agreed upon. I happen to agree with Deus that Ryan got to 2 AFCCG's without a QB but that actually flies in the face of the Jets actions subsequent to those appearances, whereupon they signed Sanchez to a huge contract extension....Jets extend Sanchez, bow out of Manning chase course , the Jets did this only AFTER they failed to lure Manning to the Meadowlands. Jet fan's perception of Sanchez was 180% contrary to what we detractors thought of him , however. May I point out the gushing, gee whiz golly gee excitement of Jet fan crystallized in this post by Ray Ray 19...

Yes, stuck.

Only the uber homers on this board such as yourself and sg3 already view Sanchez as a Top 10 QB. The reality is, he's not close to that at this point in time.

There was no need for this. The only way this makes sense is if we end up bringing in a guy like Mario Williams. If no Peyton, then the Jets should've rode out this season with Sanchez on his current deal and if he showed significant improvement, THEN sign him to an extension next offseason.

If he takes us to the AFCCG twice in the next three years, while you're crying about his contract, then I LOVE being "STUCK"

He got the same money as Kevin Kolb and Ryan Fitspatrick, and that money isn't even guaranteed

There WAS A need for the move, on several levels, you are just too naive, or too caught up in your mindless and baseless agenda to see it.

- Frees up a huge amount of cap space
- Converts money into guaranteed money that already existed on his existing deal
- New money isn't guaranteed, Jets have an out after the next 2 years if need be
- Despite the media SPUN off-season, it sends a huge statement to Sanchez himself, and the so-called "unnamed sources," or any other doubter that they are committed to Sanchez and the body of work the last 3 years provides PLENTY of just reasoning. This is big because the locker room doesn't have to wonder about the QB of the team, they don't have to wonder if he's a lame duck or not, they can either strap it on and get on board, or be gone.

It was a HUGE move, the right move, a savvy move, a fiscally positive move, a GREAT move!!!!

Perception. This argument will never see a resolution. That. is not what I'd like to point out however. I was close to the ESPN pregame setup last night. Close enough to get raised eyebrows from Steve Young and an icy stare from bald headed doofus Trent. There WERE plenty of "ESPN Lies" cardboards being held up on both sides of the tunnel. Funny how THAT was sanitized. Suzy Kolber had a handful of paper printouts in her hands, and constantly fidgeted them around during break, as Young and Dilfer sifted through THEIR papers. Lewis had what LOOKED like papers in front of him, also BUT...never...NOT ONCE...did he even look at, hold, read, or use what was provided to him by ESPN. He just gesticulated wildly, making finger points to the desk surface and ranted on and on while the camera was rolling. My conclusion after seeing his actions and body language? I doubt Ray Lewis can even read what ESPN provides him for the pregame show. He's there strictly for color.Dexter Manley bluffed his way through a career with the same handicap if you older guys remember.

It's not a "dumb" pick. It's a harmless statement of loyalty. He loved playing for Ryan and never played for BB. It's perfectly sensible.

And that "Very good DC" took a QB-less team to the AFCCG twice, so to call your position ridiculous is an understatement.
Rex Ryan is a loser. That's what he does. The afccg LOSSES do not make him a good coach when essentially his teams have sucked mostly because of hi every other year he coached.
Very good dc is the overstatement. He is an average at best defensive coach. That's what the facts show. He is a hall of fame attention grabber which causes people like you to overrate him ads coach

You might want to check Rob Ryan's Wiki page. I seem to remember that he was the linebacker coach for the 2001 & 2003 Super Bowl champs. :)

Position coach. D or O coordinators run their own ships and are next in line for HC positions. Like I said, Buddy is only one that won a ring as a Coordinator.

Mangini has 3 Super Bowl rings. Should Lewis rave about what the Mangini family stands for?

If Ray Lewis were to undergo rigorous medical tests for brain damage resulting from long-term head trauma, drug abuse and/or alien possession, he would be in a straightjacket and permanently institutionalized by tomorrow afternoon.

Of course ray ray would rather play for Rex and it's completely logical. BB would enforce discipline and "do your job" while Rex would allow him to freelance whenever and wherever, resulting in more sportscenter highlights for ray ray (but fewer wins).

ESPN was awful last night.

-no apology for their reporting of deflategate.
-No acknowledgement that Brady tis season has made Deflategate null and void
-What's with the Tyrod Taylor being a great QB and the greatest leader of all time. Just point out that he is not ready to be a starting QB and that they are holding back
-No pointing out how bad the Bills defense has been with Rex. Why are they not questioning the fact that the D-Line is top 5 in football, one of the best against the run and they are blitzing like crazy. Their run defense is so strong that they can play 6-7 in the secondary and make it real hard to throw against.
-The Bills are a poorly coached team with crazy talent.

In Bruschi's chat today he said Lewis had no choice but to give the nod to his former DC Ryan, whether or not he actually meant it.

The aliens were hoping to find intelligent life.....Oops.

Does anyone want further proof about concussions? :)

And Rex was the D line coach for the 2000 Ravens.

So it turns out the Ryan's have five rings between them. None as HC's.

Rex Ryan has made his entire reputation on being the guy who can consistently almost beat the Patriots. Most other coaches don't do as well vs the Pats.

Considering he has lost 9 of his last 10 vs NE I want to hire his PR/spindoctor firm.
