Danny Amendola Injury Watch 2015

The schedule looks favorable, but the Patriots have two position groups in serious trouble: OL and receivers. They are better resting guys like Vollmer and Amendola if time is going to get them right for the playoffs, 13-3 probably gets the second bye. Going .500 down the stretch will drive us insane, but might be okay if they can get to the playoffs with their starters able to play.

They have to get Vollmer healthy for the playoffs, and sort out their interior rotation. I'm not sure what was going on with Kline last night, but they have to get Mason-Stork-Kline in synch on the interior and figure out who can play tackle, even if that means Mike Williams takes over at RT.

The receiver situation is dire with Amendola injured and Dobson probably finished for the year. I'm not sure what's out there, but they have room for at least one free agent receiver, maybe two. Marcus Thigpen who has bounced around might be a good fill-in in the slot. They need a backup to LaFell.
Can't disagree with you; I'll be very happy with 14--2, but we might have to get our heads around a road AFCCG.

I think we have to set realistic expectations and hope a few people get healthy and a few others can step up. A year ago, how many would have put our winning the SB on Malcolm Butler's shoulders? Hell, a year ago a lot of us barely knew who he was.

Lets look under rocks for receivers,
What is Chad Jackson doing nowadays?
Who was that receiver that flashed with the Colts then faded down the stretch 2 seasons ago call him.
Also i would look at teams who dont know how to preserve talent at their practice squads.
Would love to see a Justin Hunter get cut for some reason or the Cowboys to cut Brice Butler due to overcrowding.
Chris Matthews?

I am on board with Chris Matthews he couldn't be any worse than fragile Dobson...please BB put Dropson on IR Today just don't prolong the inevitable another Second Round WR Bust! I have already seen enough from both Harper and Martin to know that they are already better players than Dropson.

Do you ever say anything positive? BTW Dobson is hurt so I am sure you can find some other player to complain about

He used to whine in broken English about Amendola, and now he's complaining in broken English that Amendola may be hurt. People can change!

I don't know what Brady would do if DA misses anytime Chandler and Dobson both Suck!

Well Dobson is out and when we really needed catchers Williams was in for chandler. You would think someone would try harder when playing against the team that ditched him. It was real bad last night. Even gronk was off but he had two and three people on him most of the night. I'm starting to lose hope in chandler just as the coaching staff seems to be.

Anyone think this guy has anything left and deserves a call?

If Dobson doesn't have a severe injury then it would be idiotic to IR him considering our situation. May not be as bad as it looked last night for all we know.

No it woudn't be Dropson is not good to begin with! Dropson = waste of roster spot.

Again, Denver is a contender for one of the top 2 seeds. If there's any MUST win game, it's this one. You want to rest players so you can have them healthy and rested for the post season? That's great, but you can rest them and use this argument on any game. Why not rest them against Philly? - a game that bears zero implication on AFC seeding. OR if it must be an AFC game, why not against the Titans? or one of the last divisional games (Jets/Phins) AFTER we clinch the division? Nothing is this league and sport is a gimme, and on any given Sunday, you can have your *** handed to you

You make no sense.

Yeah I think I fundamentally disagree with almost everything you wrote.

First of all, you have injured players right now so you also need to deal with them right now. Lets look at e.g. Amendola who had a knee issue that prevented him from coming back into the game. In what universe does it make sense to rest him later on if he has the issue right now ? You either determine that he is more probable to worsen his injury if he plays or you find that this is not the case and he plays. There is no scenario where it makes sense to play him against Denver just because they are an AFC co-contender and then let him rest a week later. That makes no sense. It is either an injury that needs healing time and he should sit out the Denver game (and maybe more) or he doesn't need to sit out any game at all (until HFA is clinched).

Secondly, and this might be a discussion centered around semantics but to me personally games against inferior opponents are must wins and games against co-contenders are not. There is so much less margin of error against equal teams that I don't see how you could consider them "must wins" - even with us at full strength. The former are games that we will win if we don't screw up the turnover battle (or encounter too many crippling injuries) whereas the latter are games that can go either way even if we play a turnover free game.

By that logic winning the games against the Eagles, Texans, Titans, Dolphins and Jets is more important than a win against Denver. Because if we win out against all inferior opponents on our schedule it doesn't matter what happens in Denver. Now guess what makes games against inferior opponents unnecessarily difficult ? Exactly, unavailable players.

Also.. please don't bother to explain to me all those AFC seeding scenarios because I am fully aware of them. I know the implications of losing in Denver.

Finally, I never said we should start resting players for the postseason. I simply don't want to risk the health of dinged up players for the rest of the season over a single regular season game. Even if it is against the frakking Broncos.

Got this photo from my inside source, but this was a picture of Aaron Dobson leaving the stadium last night. Not sure if we can count on him for next week. Once again TIFWIW:

Since Dobson has what appears to be an even more serious injury, I'm not sure what his talent level has anything to do with this discussion.

Agreed. Dobson is a good player. Foot injuries render receivers almost helpless. He's struggled so much with his feet that I feel sorry for him.

What injury do we believe Dobson actually has, and why do people think it's severe?

He needed to be helped off the field and then was carted from there to the locker room. This doesn't sound like an "ankle sprain type" of injury.

The good news is that Zolak just said on the radio is his sources say Edelman is expected to be back at the "front end" of the estimates of his recovery time. Which means he should be back by the Jets or Dolphins game.

I don't know how much you play him since the Pats are almost assured of a first round bye. But this good news for the playoffs. I would use him a bit just so he can get back into football shape for the playoffs.

Ah! I watched most of the game in catchup mode on my DVR (i.e. skipping all the dead time between snaps) and missed that. Thanks!

My dream is for the Pats to go 14-0 with the Jets & Dolphins games being meaningless! This would be the perfect opportunity to rest our nicked up players!

It looked to me like another foot injury for Dobson. If that's the case I would say he has probably played his last snap for the Patriots, possibly in the league.

Matthews got picked up to the Ravens practice squad...can NE offer him a roster spot ?
