The situation of our Offense

The Patriots have taken chances with regard to WR depth. Last season, health happened and those chances didn't bite the team in the ass. They're not as lucky this season and the lack of quality depth is showing to the point where we're hoping for the health of Keshawn Martin.

I think this was a hidden issue last night -- Gronk looked sick as a dog. If the team were closer to full strength, I wonder whether he even would have played.

I thought it was telling that we saw the picture of Gronk sitting on the sidelines with the oxygen mask on. I've never seen that before in Gillette, it wasn't 80 degrees out or we weren't playing in Denver. He just didn't seem to be himself.

With all the injuries, I think we wind up with a 14-2 or 13-3 record which should be enough for the #1 seed.
Even under these less than ideal circumstances, I still like our chances next week against a QB starting his 2nd NFL game.

So if you like the Pats chances next week, where are the 2-3 losses?

Eagles
@Texans
Titans
@Jets
@Miami

The QB and their offense is not what scares me. Our defense will man handle them. It's their defense that concerns me, with all of our missing pieces on offense.

Since 2009, excluding the Buffalo game closing out last season, the Pats have lost 3 games total in the last six weeks of the season.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're not going .500 the rest of the way.

Yep.

Get used to what you saw last night because it's gonna happen again next Sunday night

Might be even worse next week. #1 defense playing at home against our depleted offense on a short week for us. The high altitude is the icing for them.

Between their backup QB going against our defense, and our depleted offense going against their excellent defense, I expect a low scoring slug-fest.

A hidden challenge the Pats face in playing lower scoring games is Brady losing patience. His interception last night was awful in so many ways.

That was a "I-Don't-Care-I Can't-Stand-It" chuck if I ever saw one...
It was inexcusable, really. The Pats had a 10-point 4th quarter lead and the ball on the Bills 45 yard line. That's the place to be smart and drive to effectively end the game. He can't pull that kind of "I'm Tom-effin' Brady" stuff and go bombs away like that.

Don't know why this wasn't mentioned more. He did look sick. He was on the bench taking oxygen at the end of the game, looked unusual to me. I don't think he was close to 100%

He was trying to stretch the defense out by taking the top off of it. With the depleted depth, the Bills could just squat on everything underneath. That was similar to what he did in the 2011 AFCCG, for similar reasons and with similar results. It was a shot he had to take to loosen things up underneath. Unfortunately, it went the other way.

I noticed that as well.

Gronk was triple teamed most of the night but he did seem a little Gronk not being Gronk..best I can tell from my living room :D

Texans, Jets and possibly Denver or Miami (hopefully that game won't matter).

Yes my thought also, a FG there would almost make it a 3 score game....

For six weeks or so, we had the most unstopable machine in the nfl as our offense.

-Our O-line was the biggest surprise of the year, composed by 3 rookies who held their ground admirably. (Stork was bound to return too).

-Lewis came out nowhere in order to become one of the most explosive players in the game.

-Amendola was finally a fundamental part of our passing game (since last years play offs really).

-Edelman and Gronk were their usual, mismatch monters selves.

-And, of course, Tom Brady. Simply, the GOAT.

Things were looking up, until...

-Solder went down in week 4, out for the year.
-Lewis went down in week 9, out for the year.
-Edelman went down in week 10, out for the rest of the regular season(probably).
-Dobson went down in week 11, severity of the injury unknown, but not looking good.
-Amendola was hurt in week 11, severity is also known, but looks better than Dobson's
-And finally, Jackson, Mason, Vollmer, Cannon, all of which were banged down throughout the year and are coming back.

It's almost ironic that the only way to slow us down, was a twisted, beyond-our-comprehension plan (call it however your religion/ideology/mindset likes).

So my question is this:
How do you feel about our offense going forward?

Our next opponents are:
Broncos (1st yards per game; 2nd points per game)
Eagles(25th ypg; 16th ppg)
Texans(8th ypg; 14th ppg)
Titans(6th ypg ; 18th ppg)
Dolphins(26th ypg; 20th ppg)
Jets(5th ypg; 12th ppg)

As long we have Brady and Gronk, i believe we have the capacity to score 20 or more points in every game. If the O-line gets a little bit better, we can reliably get some points on drives. I don't exepect we score more than 30 "offensive" points against good defenses, specially if Dola is held out of these games against goood defenses. The Broncos game is awfully placed, though. I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but we have to be excelent on offense (In other words, much better than against Buffalo) to score 20+ points IMO.

Luckily, our defense is becoming a monster when we need it the most. They will have to carry this team and I trust them to do it. But still, i can't stop thinking of how awesome it would be to have this defense of today with the offense of the beginning of the season. I hope we see a glimpse of that in this year's play offs.
OL will settle down as long as Vollmer can play and he will go back to LT and stay there. The Bills and Giants always play our offense the toughest. Denver and Miami are possible losses with Miami pretty definite, end of year in warm climate, probably meaningless game and Brady doesn't play a lot. Defense looks good with 3rd corner an issue without Coleman. Mayo playing better, Collins returning. I actually think CB is the biggest vulnerability because there is literally no depth there other than safeties. WR should be ok as long as OL holds up. Next receiver could be Jonathan Krause off somebody's practice squad ( I think PIT).
RELAX!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the Pats chances in any of the remaining games. But they all could be losses too. The offense is totally decimated. I hope to see the Pats getting the bye early then resting. 13-3 may get the one seed. Remember the Bengals and Broncos play each other so one of the already technically has their 3rd loss before its even played. Seeding is going to to work out well. Pats will go 4-2 but at least 3-3. Winning the Denver game is huge.

It's going to be tough beating them at mile high on short rest but I'm keeping a happy thought.

Belichick does well against Kubiak defenses.

I think what we're finding out is Jules and dola are what's needed to run an unstoppable offense because of how quick they're open.
