Ray Lewis: I'd take Rex Ryan all day over Bill Belichick

Well, he certainly knows how to get free rushers past our OL. I don't know if that makes Rex a genius, but he certainly can gameplan well against us.
Except for that time a few weeks ago when a healthy NE team put up 40. And he has a 4-11 record, so there's that.

People really need to check the defensive points allowed ranks of Rex's teams. Hell, just compare Buffalo's defense from last season to this one.

Rex. Is. Not. A. Great. Defensive. Coach. His greatest gift is the ability to snow people into thinking he is.

We should be thankful that two out of the three other owners in the AFCE were stupid enough to put him in charge of their team. The 2015 Bills would be scary with a real HC.

Does Lewis mean for a coach or for his next murder victim?

I'm hearing a lot of media and some folks in here lauding Ryan's defensive acumen. I think I could scheme against the Patriots with a good defensive line vs a makeshift Pats oline and Brady playing without Edelman and Lewis and then without two starting wide receivers. I think the media needs to pump the brakes on the Ryan ball washing this am. Do people seriously think with a healthy offensive arsenal McDaniels' game plan would've been run LeGarrette Blount into the line for 2 yards every first down in the first half?

If any other head coach in the NFL behaved on the sidelines as Ryan did last night, he'd be getting excoriated nationally today. But because it's him, it's just Rex being Rex. He's an absolute jackass. What an embarrassment for the league, the city of Buffalo, New York state, the United States, the Western and Northern Hemispheres, planet earth, our solar system and the universe. I don't care that he's a really good defensive coach, and he is. Buffalo and anyone else who wants him can have him. He's a colossal douchebag.

What the Ryan family stands for?

They have 1 super bowl victory amongst Buddy, Rex and Rob where one of them coached a prominent role as Defensive Coordinator and that was Buddy 30 years ago. Otherwise, the Ryan family are loudmouths who eventually get fired after their act wears thin.

You might want to check Rob Ryan's Wiki page. I seem to remember that he was the linebacker coach for the 2001 & 2003 Super Bowl champs. :)

The guy he played for is an excellent defensive coach.
No he isn't. Look at the facts not the hype.

Rex Ryan is the most overrated coach/DC in NFL history.

Once DA went out the Pats were down to two healthy WRs.

There really isn't much you can with that and an O-line that was incredibly erratic.

The Bills were getting pressure with a 4 man rush.

The double/triple teamed Gronk and played man on everyone else.

Ray Lewis would take the guy he played for. Nothing to see here.
That's fine except he's now in a role (ex-jock pseudo journalist) where, if he hopes to muster any semblance of credibility, he needs at least to feign objectivity. Lewis could learn from ESPN colleague Tim Hasselbeck's commentary on brother Matt Hasselbeck. The way Ray has "performed" as a commentator has been terrible. He adds nothing and to think he actually gets paid for it is mind-boggling.

Ray Lewis has already gotten away with murder (allegedly), so now he feels he can get away with saying whatever he wants. Ignore him.

It's a dumb pick. Only a dumb person would pick a very good DC over perhaps the best football mind, coordinator and HC since Paul Brown.

It's not a "dumb" pick. It's a harmless statement of loyalty. He loved playing for Ryan and never played for BB. It's perfectly sensible.

And that "Very good DC" took a QB-less team to the AFCCG twice, so to call your position ridiculous is an understatement.

I like Rex...he is amusing...I enjoy a good comedian.

No one would have heard of Tom Brady if it hadn't been for the Tuck Rule.

He's a fool. Yet after the game he was going on and on about how the Patriots don't make mistakes, do the fundamentals perfectly. Did he realizing he was complimenting BB and criticizing Rex?
no, he wouldn't realize that because he's a dummy..and a murderer

Lovie Smith took Rex Grossman to a SB.

Rex inherited a great defense which carried that team and ruined it after two seasons. For four years after that, the Jets never finished higher than 19th in points allowed. This Buffalo D is giving up more yards and 5 ppg more than last year, despite having a better offense to help take the pressure off.

Just saying that Rex is a great coach doesn't make it true.

Of course he would. Why is anyone surprised at this revelation? Look at the personality types Ryan attracts and that should say it all. Faux Football Playuz love the Faux Football Coach.

Completely irrelevant

You should have listened to what Lewis said before posting.
