Number 1 Scoring Defense in NFL at the moment

It took BB and his brain trust quite a bit to get to this point.. was never sure I would see this.

I really enjoy the defensive rotation and how many combinations that this team uses, and uses them well.

This is definitely a 2003-2004 quality defense.

How many points will Denver score against this defense after managing just 17 against the Bears? The Bills have a much better offense than Denver at this point in the season.

And, it's highly likely that Collins and Siliga will be back for this one.

They are good but not 03 04 levels.

If you remember, it took the last 6 weeks of 03 for the pats to get ranked that high, I think this year is close, and if the injuries remain low, i think they will get there

The 2015 D is not as good as the 03 D.

That's my position

I believe we are ranked higher at this point than we were in 03

but the d is different, this D is much quicker and the 03 D would have a tough time in today's game where you cannot look at the receiver, nevermind hitting too hard

The rankings are relevant this year but not really year to year. Player for player the 03 D is better than the 15 D. I'm saying that now and I'll say it in February.

With that said as long as Collins comes back to full strength and they continue to improve, this D is the best since 04.

I think Siliga was a healthy scratch. In any event nice to see Mayo have a good game.

To me it doesn't really matter how this D compares to any other era of Patriots football - the game is very different now and it makes comparisons almost moot.

What matters is that they are talented and deep - and that they are well suited to combat what offenses are doing in 2015/6 - in an era where pass defense is harder than ever before.

Akiem Hicks is probably this years Blount/Talib - he really stood out a number of times last night with excellent penetration into the backfield - blowing up or redirecting plays.

The overall depth of the D-line is a real standout for me, with guys like Easley and Brown seeing a good amount of snaps and being effective.

The pick-up of Sheard has been a god send also - helping to keep Chandler Jones and Ninko fresh.

I think we are saying the same thing, the game has changed, i want the 03 d in 03, the 15 d in 15, i dont think either d would be as good as they are in the opposite year

Thanks to whiny Peypey and the dolts, you cannot play the game the way we grew up

I'm not sure how Rodney Harrison does now in today's NFL.

What I do know is that in terms of pure speed, the 2015 D is one of the fastest I've seen in a while.

Agreed..why get lost in the weeds of comparing different teams? This team, this defense, is playing great. There was a relentless quality to their play last night I really liked--and they were missing arguably their best player.

The front 7 depth is terrific--there's no sense of relying on any one or two guys. Just a swarming army. If the CBs can continue to hang in there and be competitive, should be fun to watch.

The only way you can really compare this d to the 2003 version is if they can take us to a Super Bowl and win it.

And also thanks to the dolts for handing Malcom Brown to us. That dude is a beast and is going to be a huge part of our defense for years to come

My eyes told he he was excellent again last night.

There was one play in the 2nd 1/2 and Shady broke through the line and was poised for a 10+ yd run and MB peeled off his guy and made a leg tackle for a modest gain.

Plus on the 3rd and 1 in the 3rd qtr he penetrated the gap and forced Shady to go wider.

He must have played close to 40 snaps last night.
