Here is a list of WR that we may want to consider...

How injured is Amendola? I heard that he was still on the sidelines last night.

No one has any idea. He did seem to grab at the back of his knee almost instantly, and it was a non contact injury attempting to get out of the way on a punt return.

LaFell said that he seemed to be in okay spirits, but then Amendola canceled his WEEI appearance for this morning and had the training staff come back and snatch his clothes, shoes, etc. He seemed to be injured enough where he wasn't allowed near the media, so we'll have to wait and see. Could be nothing, could be bad, could be a few games.

Chris Matthews is on the Ravens practice squad.

Probably the best of the bunch avaliable out there.

Amendola stayed on the sideline and staff was joking around with him. That does not happen with a serious injury. Even a sprain could keep him sidelined for a few weeks though. Dobson could have broken his foot and be done forever. Even if Martin returns some day, they need another WR, maybe two. Let's hope Lombardi can pull a rabbit out of his hat. Maybe Melvin can play WR (with Coleman out, he had 1 snap at CB).

IIRC, when he was released during preseason, Reggie Wayne claimed being on the Patriots either wasn't fun or was too much work. It was a bad reason, as reported, and surprising.

There really are not that many good options this late in the season. Anyone really good is on someone's roster by now.

We could activate a TE like Asante Cleveland.

At this time we have nobody healthy left....

Here is who we should probably check out:

  • Austin Collie
  • Robert Meachem
  • Donnie Avery

Outside of the above I see no one else worth signing/ looking at....
Those names clearly force the question why not Randy Moss? I mean Collie over Moss.. People listen to Felger too much about Randy. If Randy moved the chains a few times a game it would be huge. I say call Moss.

Cleveland showed some receiving skills and Chandler looks like my grandfather out there, so I think this would be an upgrade. He knows the system, but he is not a WR.

Chandler has been a disappointment. I expected a little more than what we have seen so far.

Is Chandler such a good blocker that his roster spot is safe?

If the Pats wanted to move on from him and go with Cleveland or Fauria, the short week may not be when they would try and do that though.

I forgot about Joseph Fauria, also on the practice squad, who is more of a receiving TE.

The receivers mentioned above are the best available, but we could look to add a pass catching RB since we only have 3 RBs on the roster. Not sure who the best available is there since San Francisco nabbed Travaris Cadet.

I bet the Ravens would sign him to the active roster just to spite the Patriots.

I can't believe some of this stuff. I only saw one legitimate suggestion here, Jonathan Krause. The rest made no sense to me and Randy Moss? Please. I couldn't wait to see him blocking on a screen or fighting for a ball over the middle. It's makes me ill to consider him.

Did we get any news on Dobson at all? Is he headed to IR?

As far as additions, I like the Collie suggestion but if he's in the CFL then that's probably out the window. I wonder if there's any chance the Pats let Reggie Wayne keep his playbook and just said "study up, we'll call you back later." I don't think that's likely though, or else they would've called him by now with all the injuries that have hit.

I hate to say it, but uhh... Where's Josh Boyce at?

The NFL Network reporter? That's a bold prediction.

Also a thought... Let's say Dobson is definitely out a while, and Amendola is out at least a couple weeks, and Martin still needs another week to heal his hamstring. What the heck does the offense look like against Denver? You've got LaFell and Harper and that's basically it at WR. McDaniels might have to get extra creative this week...

They brought in Hakeem Nicks for a look a couple weeks ago. There's some other names: Mike Williams (may need to serve a suspension?), Greg Salas, Vincent Brown, Terrelle Pryor, Jarrett Boykin, Greg Little, Josh Morgan, Austin Pettis.

The cupboard is pretty bare.
