You can add Florio to the list of people who know the wrong call was made. So the rules expert from ESPN, the rules expert from Fox Sports, and one of NBC's reporters all agree that the wrong call was made.

That's what we call point, set, match. But, to pile on just a little bit more, I'm sure the league itself will make a statement eventually.

Meanwhile, not a single person (outside Stereatore and this forum) thinks it was the right call. But 3 people in here know more than, you know, everybody else.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Because Florio says so makes it game (not point), set & match? Uhhh…

OTOH, it does appear that Watkins merely stumbled OOB while in the process of making the catch.
I feel then the the clock should indeed have stopped at 0:02.

Had that happened to the Pats, I wonder how the reaction on the board would be.

IMHO the Pats made out with the inadvertent whistle. Once the whistle blew the Buffalo defender stopped.

Too bad the NYJFL can't afford full time refs. If only they didn't have to spend 30 million or more on defaming Tom Brady and keeping their thumb on the players that we pay to watch.

I wouldn't want Rex Ryan coaching my son's Pop Warner team. He's an out of control buffoon.

Considering the amount of injuries on offense, no offensive linemen, no WR's and their best all around RB gone, this might have been their best game of the year. The 20 points they scored is nearly as much or more per game than a third of the teams in the NYJFL.

For what it's worth Leon Washington chimed in and says he was coached his entire career that you can't voluntarily go out of bounds sideways or backwards.

I was wrong, thought it was the bills to lose, good job see you y'all next year good win. not to jinx you but maybe you get to undefeated so this reign of impossibility comes to an end, sucks being in the pats division for 15 years, don't even have a chance.

Gutty win against a team that threw everything but the kitchen sink at them minus some losses. I guess I'll be the one that says it: at 38 years old, Brady cannot keep absorbing those kinds of hits. Without the reliability of Edelman in the quick passing game, the team needs to find it's best combination along the OL and stick with it.

Refs were awful.

A couple of the Brady hits in the 1st half Montage looked flaggable (I missed the 1st half, some looked low to me, and intentionally so).

Taylor took two blatant shots to the head. one with a helmet the other with hands to the head... they did the same to brady when helmet met his chin and brady was a little slow.

ref's made the nfl look pretty bad last night and I'm not picking sides, just in general.

If it's any consolation, years ago we were in the Bills division when they went to the SB four years in a row, so us "older fans" as you put it elsewhere, remember your pain. What a slug fest and a good game. You guys might get a wildcard, so maybe we have not seen the last of each other, although we could do without the constant hits on Brady...

Not only that, but they need to have Gronk getting open instead of blocking or being double-teamed. He was invisible last night except for that great over-the-shoulder catch.

I agree that both teams were taking advantage of the refs not calling late hits on the QB, although Buffalo seemed to benefit from this night blindness more than the Pats.

Back to the game: as messy as it was, for me the outcome was never really in doubt. You knew coming into this game that Rex would spend so much time trying to outthink Brady that the other elements in his game suffered (e.g., offense). While he is a very good DC, a head coach he is not.

Last night he succeeded, for the most part, in making Brady think too much by showing far more simulated pressures than actual, and making Brady over-diagnose where the pressure was coming from. There were snaps where Brady added to the OL protection only to find the majority of the Bills dropping back. They do a good job of disguising and feinting.

But when we punted the ball to them with two minutes left, the game was essentially over because you knew that Ryan, as a HC, does not work on offensive scenarios like these, in practice. Example: there was, at one point, a situation where it seemed that the OC to QB radio communication broke down and there was a shot of Taylor looking to the sidelines, completely lost. This is not a guy who has the confidence (or the experience/practice) to call his own plays, and it also clearly showed that this was a scenario they never prepared for.

Defense is the reason why we won last night.

Can't understand why the OL was so unprepared to deal with the exotic blitzes by Rex. It's not like they didn't know they had to deal with something like that.

Or why McD didn't call enough plays that have receivers run across to take advantage of space opening up in the middle from blitzes.

Our offense looked like they didn't practice all week.

And that throw by Brady to Harper deep that turned into an INT was really inexplicable.

Our defense was awesome though. All units played great.

Our team looks worn out and we just reached halfway point of the season.

It was ugly, there was mistakes, but I'll take the win, particularly against the best defense of the league.

The offense was off:
- No tight ends
- No time to develop routes with receivers
- Offensive line being bullied all night long
- Brady risking too much taking those hits
- Brady made this game closer than it should be going for the jugular on that pass, should have kept working the short routes and runs to eat some clock.

The defense on the other hand played great, they're still giving up a lot of rushing yards but that's part of the game, Shady is a great RB. Tyrod Taylor is not a good QB but he does have a good arm and a nice touch, he can pass, and the secondary did great last night expect for that pass to Logan I think, Tavon Wilson blew it.

This Bills team is a good team, and we played our worst in the past 2 weeks yet got the win, that's huge and we can afford to lose maybe a couple games down the road, had we lost these 2 games the picture would be a whole lot different. With a little more competency we could score on the 24 range which seems to be the magic number to win a great defense in the playoffs. Assuming our defense keeps playing at this level and no injuries. Anyway 20 was enough yesterday.

BB and McDonald will have to work some magic there because the offense doesn't look very good right now.

I don't know about a hangover, but believe a lot of today had to do with the combination of all the changes on the O-line and the returning players needing to knock the rust off and a great game plan by Wrecks to get guys into gaps where the O-line weren't expecting it. They took Andrews out at some point and he looked more bewildered by what was going on than hurt. Then, of course, the final piece of the equation was losing all the WRs so Brady didn't have the options he usually would who would give him his hot reads.

I thought Brady played pretty well, all things considered. He was getting beaten up and had no way of knowing whether he had more than 2 seconds to throw the ball. When he held it, he ended up getting hammered usually while he was throwing. The awful interception almost seemed like he was expecting to get hit like usual and it threw him off when he didn't.

Not only that, but they need to have Gronk getting open instead of blocking or being double-teamed. He was invisible last night except for that great over-the-shoulder catch.
He's getting double and triple teamed. And with CB's and safeties instead of LB's. Teams can do that because the Pats can no longer make them pay for it without Edelman and with Amendola banged up. Lafell is good but not if he's losing snaps to Aaron Dobson at the beginning of the game.

Speaking of which the refs bailed them out on that play, that should have probably ended up as a delay of game or them burning their last time out. Instead they threw in a late review of a 2nd and 1 catch...stupid..

Only in terms of the number of hits. In terms of their impact, High's extra mustard throwing Taylor out of bounds followed by his shove is what caused Taylor to hurt his shoulder. Not that I'm complaining...

front 7 caused pressure all night, that was the difference

yeah, tyrod could do without those shots as well. the bill's are done, urbik is horrible, tyrod is hurt and ej doesn't belong my class F farm town football team where everyone plays both directions. roman as o.c. is not impressive. until they get a decent offensive line, it'll be offensive for a few more years but like every thing sports in buffalo........... there's hope until their out by math and then we just hope for next.

on another note, what the heck is up with 1/4 of the red seats empty at the half and why is that place so damn quiet? every time i go there *granted it's buffalo and maybe thats the reason* it's like i can talk to people without yelling.... you CAN NOT do that in buffalo.
