We have nearly 2 months to get the offensive 'fixed'. The big thing is the Oline is getting healthy. They need time to gel. Let the receivers get healthy and on the same page as Brady. I expect Lafell to continue to improve with Brady. Maybe Harper can step up with the Dobson injury. A grind may well do this offense well in preparation for the playoffs.

If they can get some sort of rhythm and flexibility on offense, it'll be enough with the way they are playing defense. They just need good ENOUGH in all three phases of the game. We can win dog fights in the playoffs.

I tell you what else, Rex has built another team of dirty players over there. I lost track of the number of cheap shots TB took well after the play.

Oline looked awful in pass pro tonight (granted, I only caught the 2nd half). Oline made lanes in the run game, but blount refused to stick his foot in the ground and get up field. As much as I think white gas not showed anything in the nfl, he showed the ability to crush running lanes in the ncaa...

All that said, I do understand that the college game doesn't translate, and blount has shown the ability to get up field. The problem is, for me anyway, blount didn't stick his foot in the ground and get up field on those dumb ass stretch plays.

HEY JOSH, THE GRADERS ARE BACK, RUN A ****ING POWER RUN.

Rant over.

I don't remember that far back as far as some of the names.
Understood. Just know that he was good at the #2 spot. BB has had some good #2's in his tenure. I think Logan Ryan is showing lots of improvement and looks good out there to me.

Mike Perieira agrees with me: They should have stopped the clock on that final play.

Guess I really do know the rules after all, huh?

Not that it really makes a difference, but the clock should have stopped on that last play. He went out untouched.

  2. @MikePereira yes but isn't it the rule that if you go backwards out of bounds you wind the clock?

@JJMcIntosh >>Makes no difference if you are not touched
To paraphrase Bill, who's been wrong more often than Mike Pereira. And he IS wrong.

Cannon has been out for a while. It's not surprising he struggled.
Vollmer was obviously not back to 100%, so it's not surprising he struggled.
What I'd like an explanation for is what was going on in the middle of the O-line.

Also, I don't know if it's a case of teams figuring Chung out, or the Patriots having to ask too much of Chung, but that's become an area of major concern in the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping it's a matter of Collins being out + CB3 issues, and that it can be brought back into order.

I believe there was a second whistle blown distinctly early. It was either on the first or second Patriot punt where the Bills player backed away/didn't fair catch the ball and let it bounce. The Patriots players were around the ball letting it roll as far as it would roll. The ball was CLEARLY still rolling backward and the whistle blew. I'm guessing nearly two yards of additional roll after the whistle.

I do think they ended up spotting the ball correct, however, everyone here watching the game heard a whistle blow when the ball was clearly still rolling *unless it was a whistle like sound from the stands). It's quite odd to see a whistle blow that early when the location/action of the football is so easily seen/spotted. For two early whistles on plays where it was clear to see where the ball was is bizarre....

What about the guy that unnecessarily went low on him when he was scrambling?! Why would you ever need to tackle a QB low? Most guys love to go high to lay a QB out. To me, that was deliberately targeting his knees. Some people are probably going to say I'm overreacting, but I wouldn't put anything past them. If we can just survive TJ Ward next week, then we should be okay.

rex had the perfectly timed plan of blitz heavy scheme vs an offense having to pull Wrs of practice squads . Had edelman/lewis being healthy this wouldve been picked apart. Our oline played same way as in the first game vs the bills. This time brady had to hold the ball longer.Seems like pats are transitioning to a more vertical passing team with PA from a short horizontal passing team after edelman went out.

Sorry, but I'll accept the rules interpretation of the former VP of Officiating.

Ok, well, there's literally a ton of games you'll have to go over and rerun because of players intentionally going out of bounds and clock not being stopped.

Don't forget he was playing with 1 arm that game...
And don't forget it was actually Asante that a) let an INT slip out of his clutches and B) was the main reason the Giants were even down there in the first place. Hobbs was not good. But Hobbs played his ass off and did what was asked of him to the best of his ability. Plus, like you and the other poster mentioned, he was put in an impossible situation and he was hurt.

Blount is running strangely this year. Slowing up before low tackle attempts and basically leaning down on the tackler. It's like he's paranoid of a knee injury.

I posted this in the game thread, but I think the officials ruled that by not trying to get up off his butt or advance the ball, the receiver declared himself down. Here's the applicable NFL rule:
Rule 7 Section 4 Article 1 e: An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended...when a runner is out of bounds, or declares himself down by falling to the ground, or kneeling, and making no effort to advance"

And a sports hernia

Not sure if I quoted you initially or not, but the Hobbs hate for that play is not warranted. If I quoted you intinially, you are right, he never should have had that responcibility. Hell, even healthy that's a bad match up...

Then again that's years past...

The officiating was horrendous tonight and it wasn't just the inadvertent whistle, which was Rex Ryan's fault and not the official.

Graham hit Brady on from behind on the Rambo run back of the interception. Yes, offsetting penalties were called, but Graham was just one of the people targeting Brady. That sort of hit should get Graham a fine. Graham also went low at Brady's knees on another play.

The refs missed a huge false start on Cordy Glenn in the first half during the drive for the field goal. They also missed Hughes lined up in the neutral zone at least twice.

What I found ridiculous was the calls that Cannon and the Bills RT weren't on the LOS. Reviewing the play showed them.both where they were supposed to be.

The spots were off a few times as well.

Tavon Wilson made big plays on both defense and special teams. It takes a village. ;)

We certainly heard Tavon's name a lot in the first half. And the ST block was awesome.

I was one who thought that he was the least valuable on the team. He certainly proved his worth tonight.

Well, you'll have to give an example beyond "there's literally a ton of games." But something tells me you're thinking of all those times a player is tackled or pushed backwards out of bounds by the defense, in which case the forward progress is in-bounds and the clock keeps running.

Huge issue is not the wistle but Rex going on the chalk, getting to the reff and yelling at him, distracting the reff. If Bill did this he would be banned from NFL. This is a big Fing deal they are ignoring. This is not a 15 yard penalty, it is a million dollar fine and suspension.

Blount is very inconsistent as mentioned. Looks amazing sometimes when he gets to the edge or carrying the pile, then the next play he doesn't hit the hole hard & gets taken down by an ankle tackle.

White may need some more play in single back sets, because he can be a threat on play action if he doesn't have an extra rusher to block.

We have definitely opened up the vertical passing game, would like to see some more draws, screens, rb routes on 1st down with the extra space.

That last series on offense was a prime opportunity.
